Decki,
Sometimes one has to jump to keep it all together - it looks like your jump is going to land where you want it.
It is taking that first step that is the problem..

i sat next to two very accomplished men while i was on a plane the other night that would have just flicked me across the seat with a snubbed up nose any other day of the week, but this time was different.
when i say accomplished i mean by the run of the mill standard by which we americans tend to measure success.
they are comedians and the one is topping the others jokes as fast as they can go.

for me, there are a number of movies that i never tire of.
here's a partial list:.

dear maturing friends,.
one day, not so many years back, i read that guys like me were "aging young men.
" i laughed and went on with the day's affairs; however, i do recall that i was drawn a little more often to the looking glass, semiconsciously mouthing those immortal words:.
Disgracefully, more like it!
At 52 near 53 I have gone very grey & have been told that I look distinguished (!?!)
BUT
I don't see myself that way. There's an old fart in the mirror that I don't quite recognise......must be the multifocals......and I still want to ride my Ducati regardless of what everyone (like my friend the orthopaedic surgeon) says about it. In many ways I am getting more outrageous as I get older as I care less what others think.
Cheers,

considering what has gone on at this board the last couple months, i thought this would be good to discuss !
it's true that some here are somewhat jaded and untrusting of others because of the deception pulled by " trevor" and the whole " trevorgate " thing.
that being said and acknowledged however , think about what makes us not trust others as ex-witnesses.
After a few years of watching the comings & goings it's really apparent that different people have different issues with the Watchtower Organisation and that the many needs of those coming here should be respected.
While many members are former / fading JW's, there are also the "ubm's" such as myself who have a significant other in the clutches of this most repungant and deceptive organisation. I have, over the past 18 months or so asked for help and got it when I needed it, particularly in trying to understand the babble that the WTS spews forth. I would be significantly poorer in my continuing attempts to understand what is being drilled into my wife & how I can mitigate the damage. If others were deprived of this advice, JWD would be a poorer place.
A consequence of my non-JW background is that my understanding of JW practices & attitudes is poor to the point of non-existence & I have felt on occasions that my bonafides are suspected due to the naievity of my comments or questions. I also see others who have significant issues in their lives and are prepared to lay all out on the board - after the Trevor debacle I can understand why there is so much suspicion, but as WTWizard pointed out, the Trevor/Lindas deception was one member of very many.

chill a big glass or mug in the freezer.
drop in two scoops of good vanilla ice cream and pour in a well chilled, quality brand of root beer and fill to the top.
drop in a straw and grab an ice teaspoon and escape for a few minutes into pure sensory pleasure.
Tried Vegemite????
By the way, what's Root Beer???

Mike & the Mechanics - The Living Years. Has resonance with my wife's family
Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door
I know that I'm a prisoner
To all my Father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage
To all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years
Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got
You say you just don't see it
He says it's perfect sense
You just can't get agreement
In this present tense
We all talk a different language
Talking in defence
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
So we open up a quarrel
Between the present and the past
We only sacrifice the future
It's the bitterness that lasts
So Don't yield to the fortunes
You sometimes see as fate
It may have a new perspective
On a different day
And if you don't give up, and don't give in
You may just be OK.
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
I wasn't there that morning
When my Father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say
I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year
I'm sure I heard his echo
In my baby's new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
i have a scan of the cover of the 2008 watchtower witling only edition that i got from an active jw relative earlier today if anyone is interested in seeing it.
i don't know how to post pictures without them being the type you have to click on to enlarge.
if someone wants to tell me how to do it i can post it or if anyone has access to a photobucket account i can e-mail the pic to you.
Unless someone has being having a play with photoshop, it probably is genuine - the portugese (?) version posted a while ago had an identical format

it seems alot of members here live in the burbs or city so i was wondering who else besides me lives on acreage or rural areas?
i live on eight acres at the base of the cascade foothills.
a half mile away the power lines stop and the old logging roads start.
This is near my home - Narrowneck in the early morning

Hi Brent,
We live on 3 acres in the Blue Mountains, about 60 miles west of Sydney at about 2700 feet and have been here for the past 20 years. We originally moved here to be able to have a large garden with lots of privacy - which we do have. You can see for about 9-10 miles over the Jamison Valley from the house.
Would not trade living here for the city. Like you we bought rather cheaply, but our property values have skyrocketed as others have decided to move out of the city. One thing though: while we cannot be seen from any public road, the J-Dubs use the aerial photos from the council.....
