Just want to introduce myself

hi everyone, i have been lurking for a very long time and have been pretty much blown away and sickened by what i have learned on this discussion forum (this is actually the first forum i had ever visted).

i am married to man who was not a jw when i met him (although he was raised as one from his early teens but left when he was in his 20's, oh and that was when he started attending college), to make a long story short we met, fell in love, got married, had a few children and then 20 yrs later he started attending the "meetings" or better yet "the indoctrination sessions" again, which btw he did not tell me that that was what he was doing!!

shortly thereafter i began noticing changes in his personality, and it wasn't for the better.

Hi Jonesy,

I am so sorry to see the problems that you are going through, but I am so glad to see that you have not been fooled by the "smoke and mirrors" of the WTS: it is so important to be true to yourself and not to be enveloped by the anits of the congregation. There are a few "unbeliveing mates" or UBM's on JWD (as you have no doubt seen) who can at least empathise with your predicament.

I almost think of myself as a "disbelieving mate" as I can't believe that my wife got mixed up with this lot!

Fundamentalism and cultism are issues that are present in most (all?) religions and pseudo-religions.

It is good to see the perspective being presented from a "christian" perspective - perhaps giving some insight into the perils of the mindset of fundamentalism and cultism.

Unfortunately most are unaware of the guile and deception practiced by the promoters of this "religious" extremism.

"the reason for the collapse of world trade centre seven is no longer a mystery," said dr shyam sunder, the lead investigator on the team.. investigators also concluded that the collapse of the nearby towers broke the city water main, leaving the sprinkler system in the bottom half of the building without water.. the building has been the subject of a wide range of conspiracy theories for the last seven years, partly because the collapse occurred about seven hours after the twin towers came down.

Seriously, many people have difficulty in understanding that unpredictable / unbelievable things happen in catastrophes. It takes careful, considered research to uncover the underlying causes of these events. Unfortunately a considered, well researched opinion is not juicy enough for many!

Dear Happy Homemaker,

I am sorry to hear of your problems with the Black Hole. I have provided (under separate cover) some suggestions for an effective escape.

Re my now former travelling companions, yes, my thoughts entirely - I ust admit that I did them the tiniest bit of encouragement to leave.

My mobile home is precisely that: a comfortable abode, equipped with most modern conveniences that is designed to be conveniently relocated (albeit at some expense) to different locales. A "caravan" is an inferior accomodation usually providing cramped accomodation for lesser beings. A caravan is usually relocated by an equally inferior towing device that is ill designed for such a relocation.

By the way, I believe the yellow gunk to be Sulfur (also know as Sulphur, but this is unfortunately no longer an approved spelling) - but I am unsure as to whether there are any hot springs nearby.

Dear Happy Homemaker,

HAL here again. I've had problems with some inconsiderate tenants who have got my mobile home into a real mess.

These two (Frank and Dave) signed on to do some menial housekeeping tasks around the place while we were on a long trip together but they didn't like who was really in charge and left rather abruptly (although separately). I hear from Dave occasionally, but Frank has been strangely quiet.

Enough of this idle gossip!!

My real problem is that just before Dave left, he parked my mobile home in a less than desirable neighbourhood with inadequate fuel in the tank. While I am resigned to being stuck out here in the boonies, the pollution is incredible and consequentially the mobile home is now covered in yellow gunk, and I am told, looks dreadful.

Dave, when he bothers to turn up, just tells me "something wonderful" will happen, but who is to believe him after his departure tantrum and how does this help the mess outside?

I look forward to your reply on how I might get the outside clean again, but please keep in mind the time delay!

I had a look at the page you mentioned - references to "true Christians" and the snippets from "authorities". If I had the time, I would be interested to see in what context these "authorities" have made reference to the JWs given their proclivity for taking things out of context.

I do especially love the way they stick to thier claim of being the one true religion, true to the "roots" & low perfect they are.

I have to stop before I make myself sick...........

russia or china i'm guessing but that would be a logical choice.. this is my opinion but i think with the united states getting involved in territories that are under control of russia and china is reaching a boiling point and eventually somone is gonna say i have had it i'm not taking this anymore.. i read this also that in a chinese proverb they have a sayin "kill the chicken to frighten the monkey" the chinese beleive the attack on iraq was the chicken and they are the monkey.. now i'm hearing they are or may blockade iran.

if this happens it could be the final straw but maybe not but i think very soon we will see the knig of the north rise up in defiance to the united states.. let me know what you think please!.

what angers you about the truth

this angers me .

elders who will not make shepherding calls to comfort their brothers and sisters but as soon as that brother or sister puts one little foot out of line those same f-----g (sorry about the language but it really angers me ) elders can not move fast enough to form a judicial committee and then are so unmerciful - it makes me want to vomit literally
