  Is the GB crooked or just misguided?

  i ask myself this from time to time.

  is the governing body operating seriously out of the belief that they are god's only channel to mankind?

  or are they deliberately scamming people?

  I refuse to believe that the GB believe the bull they propogate, that would be like me believing in Santa because I tell my daughter he is real. I reckon that none of them truly believe it all anymore once they reach that heady height but they are in a catch 22, the whole thing is built upon faith and belief, therefore they ALL must act to each other that they believe because not beleiving is apostasy and therefore removal from the position they have invested sooo much energy and time attaining. Never underestimate the thrill and pleasure of being at the top of the tree, achieving your lifes work. Seriously how can they actually believe it when they are sat there changing doctrine, dates and policies on a vote. Can you imagine the conversations circa 1992? "Hmmm end is not here, the generation of 1914 are frickin' dying round our ears...... ok ideas anyone??"

  The difference is Harry Potter are pure works of fiction which chikdren understand. MBOBS is presented to JW children who are indoctrinated to believe all the things they see and read in it actually happened. Plus Harry Potter books are aimed at children of a reasonable age with good reading comprehension, whereas MBOBS is aimed at kids who can just about read. Personally I think it is a detestable book and would not let my daughter read it

  sin is a concept introduced to explain the failings of people. Going by the biblical definition it is also genetic. Some peope put to much stock in the concept of perfection, it is an illusion which no one has ever had nor will have, the human body and brain is perfection in a manner of speaking. I don't believe in sin, I believe in moral rightness and wrongness

  a very good friend of mine is convinced that the change in the book study arrangement.

  is a sign that the end is so near and the jehovah made the change to emphasize the.

  This is all bull

  The reason for cancelling the bookstudy is because is fosters more independant thinking and is harder to regulate than the pre written KHmeetings which are basically brain washing on a stick. When I used to go to bookstudy many a moon ago, it was the place where all the speculation of what would happen post armaggeddon etc. I also think the bookstudy has been used by some fading elders to introduce a bit of independant thinking.

  Since when has the WTBTS done anything for the benefit of it's adherents, hell they actively encourage kids to give up promising careers to go knocking on doors. Gas prices my ass

  one of the most famous photographs taken by the late charles c ebbets showed workmen casually eating lunch on the 69th floor of the ge building during the contruction of rockefeller center.

  this photo was taken 76 years ago, in the summer of 1932. a lot has changed since then.

  many of the buildings you see below don't exist anymore.

  Why do many of us keep refering to IT as "THE TRUTH"?

  because that was the name the borg placed on it's religion, "the truth" it seems to be stuck with many of us.

  i am making a concious effort to not refer to it as "the truth".. it is not the truth, it is not the way, and it is definitley not the life!.

  so let's stop it people!.

  It is funny, I am only on here about once a ........well one a few months and i always seem to see a thread like this.

  The society are a bunch of opportunist, money grabbing, life affecting, lying, religio - crazy, deceitful, hypocritical cheats

  I think my personal viewpoint on this question is clear

  Where do atheists' morals come from?

  many theists believe that atheists have no morality at all.

  they argue that because atheists dont believe in the laws, limitations and boundaries that god has set up for us, there's nothing stopping them from becoming violent, lying thieving sociopaths.

  there have been many stories of people who have "found god" and changed their life, giving up drugs, repenting for past crimes.

  Morals are vague at the best of time, a religious person may see no harm in boinking a bird, an atheist may have an issue with boinking a bird before he knew her very very well. Your family, peer group and associates for the general basis of your moral code as far as I am concerned, God has nothing to do with it, if he did I would have no issue with genocide, infantacide, jealousy, petty anger and so and so forth
