  Why I post about atheism

  oftentimes the accusation is made that there is some sort of conspiracy on jwd amongst the atheists to convert, humiliate, spit on, or otherwise degrade the believers.

  it's been suggested that their tone is condescending and arrogant.. it's hinted at that they're angry and bitter about their own lives and want to take it out on god and his humble servants.. others think it's all just an excuse to lead what they judge to be a morally depraved life.. regardless of what we believe about god's existence or lack thereof, most rational adults understand that when we attempt to judge the motives of others we can miss by a mile.. so here's the reason i post about the topic of atheism.... i was born as one of jehovah's witnesses, fourth generation.

  i was being indoctrinated with jehovah while i was still in the womb.

  Atheist - you cannot prove God

  Theist - Can you prove there is not a God?

  Whatever, it is all kind of irrelevant anyway, it is the kind of debate where everyone is a winner woohoo

  I'm an atheist, I will never believe in some super duper creative being with absolutely no proof and the best argument being "I can't think of anything else". A few thousand years ago I reckon there was a guy just like me looking at the sun (not directly!) thinking "this is crap, I don't think that big, warm round thing in the sky is a god" and someone saying "aaahhhhh but can you prove it is not??"

  hmmmmmm give it another 50 years and maybe the blanket sweeping generalisations of the gay community might just be a thing of the past.

  I love how in a world where earthqukes kill thousands, cyclones kill thouands, famine kills 100's of thousands, cities are bombed, terrorists blows themselves and others with them and gun toting gangs sprawl around neighbourhoods, the practices of some gay people in the bedroom and them DARING to want to get married can result in such heated emotions

  I love how in the talking donkey story how balaam is perfectly fine with his donkey talking to him. If he knew his scriptures he would also know the only precedent for a talking animal was a snake and look how that ended. Everyone was doomed and snake has to crawl on it's belly for the rest of it's days (the snake got off rather lightly I thinks)

  So just so i have this correct Junction Guy................

  You don't believe that gay people should be able to get married because of your bad experience in the gay community, but if you so had a good experience you would be probably be all for it? Also if your church had treated you so bad you would have probably been an atheist?? That makes no sense, surely a belief in God is irrelevant of how people in a church/hall/community treat you?? You seem a little too concerned about HOW people treat you, I suppose if you were shot you would be on the gun abolition group. Does it really affect you in any way shape or form if two gay people minced down the aisle?

  Trust me one day America will get with the times. I find it bit amusing the whole nature v nurture debate, maybe there is a bit of both. I can't really see why ANYONE would become gay because they think it is cool, for example i am attracted to women and only women, no matter how "fashionable" being gay became it is simply not something I could do. Common sense would dictate that someone who is a sexually active gay person is so because they LIKE men (or women if they are lesbian) who they hell is going to put on a facade of being gay to fit in with a crowd. I have spoken to loads of gay men who knew they were gay from the moment they started to get sexual impulses, they are born that way. Some of these men came form very hetro families where no one else was gay ad none of their friends were. The nurture argument generally stems from people who fel that "gayness can be caught" which is a ridiculous viewpoint

  So something is good and ok if it is a work of fiction with death, dying and torture themes?

  There is a quite a difference yes, you may allow your child to watch Snow White which depicts apple poisoned princess's but you would not let your child watch "Executions" or a Panaroma expose on date rape. If you allow your child to think that the things they are reading actually took place then to them it is real, why anyone would want to show pictures of God killing lots of people in quite graphic detail and then tell them God is actually real is beyond me. Hey it is all personal choice at the end of the day

  I enjoy our traditional biblical values in this country Mariusuk.

  You may well do so, but a lot don't in your own country, is it right that they are repressed because people are a bit narrow minded? A lot of people in America are racist should black people not have rights because of the wishes of those people? Do you have any real reason why gay people whoukd not marry or is it just because of your personal struggles? Apologies if it sounds like i am being a bit direct, I just don't get prejudices

  I have kinda lurked and posted for a while now although I did not know about your coming out. You seem to have had issues about it which means you clearly did not really accept who you are/were. However a lot of gay people know EXACTLY how they are, what they want and how they wish to lead their life. If they wish to get married I cannot see any reason whatsoever why they should be discouraged for it. Your experience would be like me advocating a ban of marriage because i had married a bit of a bitch if you pardon my french
