Admittedly knocking one off in public is a bit sick however I do not see what that has to do with gay marriage which this thread is about. This thread needs to get back on track lol. I still have not seen any of the anti gay marriage brigade offer a solitary justification for their stance other than the bigoted "The bible says it's wrong" yeah well the bible says a lot of things are wrong and is a book for a time when enlightenment was a torch accompanied by a pitchfork.
I hate bigotry, jw's are encouraged to effectively have a global bigoted attitude, they ALL die and we live!! It is a shame that when they leave some JW's just cannot shake some of their discriminations. Obviously everyone has a right to their individual opinion but maybe some people need to think how they would feel if they were looked down on and marginalised just because of certain preferences or beliefs they may have.

by snowbird inwhile this may be construed as a rebuttal to nvr's thread re: why i post about atheism, that is not my intent.. it is my intent, however, to show how i developed a belief in and love for the god of the bible.. my paternal grandfather, who died before i was born, was a baptist preacher, so you could say i cut my teeth on the bible.
i loved having it read to me, and once i learned how, reading it for myself.
i'm convinced that spirituality runs deep in my blood.. i've always had such a strong sense of right and wrong that injustices make me literally sick.

With regards to the flood comment maybe He did warn the for 40 years (although how Noah quite managed that while building an ark the size of a small town is quite beyond me) so the babies and young children were warned were they? How about the Egyptian firstborns? Were they warned? Or how about 1 Sam 15:3 where God intructs that they "Destroy them and their possessions, kil their men, women, children and even their babies" You have to admit God does seem to enjoy a good slaughter

If you kill a lot of innocent people it is murder. If you believe for example the flood actually happened and God caused said flood that means he killed a hell of a lot of innocent children and babies. You can play around with justifications all day long but if a human did that he/she would be demonised kind of like Hitler and Stalin were. The God of the bible has all the characteristics of the war mongering people of the time strangely enough......... coincidence?

Why I post about atheism
by nvrgnbk inoftentimes the accusation is made that there is some sort of conspiracy on jwd amongst the atheists to convert, humiliate, spit on, or otherwise degrade the believers.
it's been suggested that their tone is condescending and arrogant.. it's hinted at that they're angry and bitter about their own lives and want to take it out on god and his humble servants.. others think it's all just an excuse to lead what they judge to be a morally depraved life.. regardless of what we believe about god's existence or lack thereof, most rational adults understand that when we attempt to judge the motives of others we can miss by a mile.. so here's the reason i post about the topic of atheism.... i was born as one of jehovah's witnesses, fourth generation.
i was being indoctrinated with jehovah while i was still in the womb.
