My guess is that whatever the news is and how it affects the organization and us will greatly depend on our reaction and what we do with the information.
If it indeed is big, then the media must know. The means thousands of us need to hound the news media and let them know what really goes on.
if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?

Whatever the news is, I am looking forward to hearing about it. I would love for the organization to be involved with something huge, that makes the big time news, and that they can't spin.
who threw your first birthday party after you left the organization, or did you throw it for yourself?
my best friend threw mine, it was my 18th birthday.
she made a huge homemade cake for me with all 18 candles and icing.
My current wife through a suprise birthday party for me.
i happened to see a card a few minutes ago from a jw i grew up with to another jw that we grew up with.
all of us are in our 50s now, and we've known each other since we were early teens.. the sister who wrote the card has pioneered for decades.
she's married, but decided to never have kids.
I have seen similar thoughts expressed by witnesses. My ex's family was very good at it. They all seemed to have this life sucks, why try attitude towards anything.
So many people pissing their lives away waiting for the "new system." I will take it one step further though. I think many of these people with these kinds of attitudes, would not have done much in life anyways, whether or not they were witnesses. A person with a good attitude, and goals in life is not going to let the prospect of the new system get in there way of living and enjoying life now.

I think most people are anxious about change, and death is certainly a change in ones lifestyle. I believe that things will work out after death. I simply hope that I live a long life here on earth before dying.

it is understood that your response is a guestimate.
Of hundreds of witnesses I knew, less than 5 came as a direct result from door to door activity.
i sent my birthday document (http://thebentinel.com/jw-birthdays.html) to a poster here that is at the very least a jw-sympathizer, if not a full-blown jw.
the response i got back indicated that my reasoning on it was seriously flawed and essentially any idiot with a passing knowledge of scripture and history can tell that birthdays are not something christians should celebrate.. of course, if you're not a bible-believer or a god-believer, you couldn't care less about pagan origins and all that.
but let's keep this conversation on the 'appropriate for christians' vein.
The WTS has simply turned itself into an organization that just has to do the opposite of every one else, just for the sake of being different. Really, birthdays are not a big deal at all. There is nothing wrong with them. You want to say they have a pagan background? If you want to, I am sure there are many things that can be traced back to pagan times. Bottom line, get over it. New day and age. Enjoy.

what was your opinion of the death penalty as a jehovah's witness?.
The only issue I have with the death penelty is that it takes too damn long to kill them. Convict them. Maybe one shot at an appeal if there was something messed up with the trial, and then be done with it.
One more thing. Allow the victims families to pull the switch, if they wish.
a) you'll find no ash trays.
b) no lottery tickets laying on the counter.
c) a jw calendar in sight for everyone to see.
At least a few years ago, without question, a book case full of bound volumes. Can spot them a mile away!
