I rarely let them in the front door, especially on suprise visit shepherding calls, let alone offer them anything to drink or eat.

WAS THIS A NO-NO FOR YOUR CONG. SHEPHERDING VISITS?
by juni ini don't know where the elders learned this one.
maybe it was local - i don't know.
but.... these were shepherding calls to build you up spiritually so therefore no serving of coffee or cookies were allowed.. was this true with your congregation's shepherding visits?.

Did you feel uncomfortable going into churches when you were a JW?...
by Hecklerboy ini remember going into churches when i was a jw for wedding or funeral and feeling a sense of dread.
i thought the demons were going to come out of the walls at me.
and of course i had the self-rightous attitude that the church would be destroyed soon in armegeddon.. recently i've been helping teach a karate class at a local baptist church.

Did you give lots of money to the Watchtower?
by JH ini didn't put much money in the contribution box.
just buying a bigger car was my way of contributing financially.
i also was generous with the ones in need.. as far as the watchtower's contribution boxes were concerned, they didn't recieve much from me.

"Cornered" a street cornerer today
by Jez inthought today that i would try to get some questions answered.
i wanted to see if he could answer my concerns and was looking forward to a nice discussion or some peace regarding some things that are driving me crazy.. so, i saw this older 'wise' looking gentleman on the street holding up some mags.
so, i approached him.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS IN LIFE?
by Mary insince we were never really allowed to "have goals" while we were witnesses (other than becoming a pioneer or going to bethel), what goals have you set for yourself now that you're free?
i'm pursuing my ba, but i'm not sure in what field i want to major in...maybe religious studies!
wouldn't that be a scream?

What is your theory on the series "Lost?"
by free2beme ini am a big fan of this series and have a couple of theories of what i think is happening and wondered what others thought, just wanting some insight.. one theory.
i think the people got on the plane and never actually crashed.
i think they were gassed and taken to a government (possible alien) location and their minds were feed the reality they think they are experiencing.

What effect did armaggeddon/possible persecution have on your mental state?
by jambon1 ini was`nt brought up in the `truth`.
i have recently left and am amazingly happy.. one thing that got to me was my mental state of mind which became extreemly negative about the future.. i worried very much about non jw relatives (good people) dying at armaggeddon.
also reading the endless accounts of bros/sis being brutally tortured/raped etc really disturbed me.

I suppose I was different than many witnesses, in that I never dwelled on armaggeddon or the paradise. I just went through the motions.

Bankruptcy: Any experiences?
by CaptainSchmideo indid it make your life easier?
did you later regret it?
did you wish you had done it sooner?
-

I work in finance, so I see credit issues daily. No questions bankruptcy is the best choice for some. The main thing is, don't mess up the credit afterwards. You must stay perfect, otherwise you are toast in the credit world. I have seen people buy a car immediately after a BK, and a home 2 years after a BK.

Michael Jackson to sell Neverland to the WT?
by moshe inrumors are flying that michael jackson will soon close the deal on the sale of his vacated neverland ranch to the watchtower society.
they are selling their ny city bethel properties and moving to a nicer climate due to the poor health of the aging bethel staff.
the ranch seems to be an ideal fit for for them.
