Is David Blaine Possessed?
by lonelysheep inthat is a question i used to ask myself in my dub days.
prior to that, i'd always enjoyed magic and stunts, simply for entertainment, and always felt it was just a bunch of bologna.
then, when i studied the bible, there were the answers, so i thought!

I love David Blaine...he's totally entertaining! It's always amusing to see what he'll get into next. The "Frozen in Time" trick was "cool"...now, he'll drown himself...that's HOT
My JW husband can't stand it...I told him to not read too deep into his work..it's all for entertainment purposes...that's all!
And if he gets possessed...that would be absolutely AWESOME! I saw one of his DVDs and he makes a trip to Haiti..(voodoo land)...the Haitians were scared of him and ran away from him as he performed card tricks for them...it was hilarious!
I don't know...to each his/her own, I guess. I, PERSONALLY, LIKE ALL THE ILLUSIONIST AND MAGICIANS!!!

Why do the British dubs have such an animosity to Harry Potter?!
by CaptainSchmideo inif i have ever mentioned that i've seen the movies or read the books to a witness in gb, i get the kind of reaction that used to be reserved for smurfs here in america.. i am not naive enough to not understand any discomfort with a school for witches, but this stuff is about as threatening as casper the friendly ghost.
i find the books charming, if a little long winded and formulaic.
the movies, especially the later two, tighten up the plots and jettison a lot of excess baggage.

If God is so concerned about His name, why don't we know the exact pronunciation of it? Why would He allow it to be lost, thus needing restoration? What we have today (Jehovah) is a Latin word that has come down into the English, given to us by a Catholic monk, Raymundo Martini in A.D. 1278. To Jehovah's Witnesses, if I say God, they think that God doesn't know who I'm talking about, since there are so many "gods". No, to believers, there aren't many gods, only one. He doesn't need distinguishing as He already is so. St. Paul says that believers have only one God and not many "gods." 1 Cor. 8:5 See also Jer. 16:20; Isaiah 43:10; Isaiah 45:18 With Jehovah's Witnesses, it's like you have to give God a name to distinguish him from every other so-called god to make sure you don't make a mistake. As if God needs an actual name like Tom, Dick or Harry in order to distinguish him from all other Toms, Dicks, and Harrys. So, why does the Lord's prayer say: "hallowed be thy name?" Name signifies the Person--his power, authority and attributes. When a policeman cries: "Stop in the name of the Law," he is not suggesting that the Law has a personal name. Nor was Jesus suggesting that we use a personal name; he always called God Abba (Father).
On the question of war. If Jesus wants us to love our neighbor, why do JW's say he will not love his at Armageddon? Their description of this battle makes mankind's battles look like Sunday school picnics. Why is what is good for God not good for man? Isn't He supposed to be our example?
On the question of hell. The Witnesses want justice on God's part so that He can destroy all His enemies at Armageddon and they believe it is justified just this once and that doen't mean God is unloving. If people question hell, they also question a literal Armageddon.
GOOD ANSWER!!!!
I DIGG IT!!!

Something funny!
by LaCatolica inlast night, my (inactive) jw husband joked about how they have found judas' gospel and how it's all bs.
i said, "oh leave him alone, he has a right to share his side of the story...they have found his account, i'd like to hear it, just like all the others...besides it's not like the bible is all true, many of the things on there have been written so many times over the years that who knows what's true anymore.
" he quickly said, "we do (meaning jws)"......i laughed, "hahahahahaah, sweetheart, please, only god knows the truth...not any book or group of people.

He's still full of it, how arrogant...This is why I'd rather not discuss any religious topics with him...he's got a one-sided, one-tract mind!!! Too bad!!!
I also mentioned how I plan on enrolling our daughter in a very prestigious private Catholic academy...and he was like, "no, she's getting home schooled"....again, I laughed, and replied.."Why, so she can become an anti-social person, I DON'T THINK SO"....hahah..
*Ahhh, the wonders of being married to one (JW)...it's so much freakin' fun!!!!
Just thought I'd share!

Simple question that I always wondered about?
by omerp ini have noticed that at the kingdom hall there are no cemeteries around!
where do they bury the dead of the faithful jehovah's witnesses?
i'm not sure but if they are buried at the local cemeteries which are catholic, united church, etc... etc.... isn't that being a bit hipocrit to speak openly about these church right from the pulpit yet those churches are good enough to rest in peace?

Yeah...and it still bothers me when they say that they don't go to heaven when they die. (Only "chosen" ones go)...

My niece LOVES Harry Potter...and so do I...
She constantly goes on and on about the movie and how she loves it. One time we were at my in-laws and my husband was flippin' channels and one of the channels had the "The Sorceror's Stone" on. Well, he left it there and his little JW niece was all into it, mouth open and all!!! My niece was following the dialogue verbatim..hahah...then, in walks my M-I-L and she notices what's playing and made the BIGGEST deal about it...Oh, man!!! She scared me!! She was like...."TAKE IT OFF...CHANGE THE CHANNEL IMMEDIATELY....THAT'S DEVIL'S STUFF....TAKE IT OFF...(while she covered her granddaughter's eyes)" I was in awe...then I realized it and changed the channel. Then she went on about how bad that is and that I shouldn't let my niece watch it...WELL, IF SHE ONLY KNEW....
I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE EVEN SAT AND WATCHED "NARNIA" THE OTHER DAY...(it does contain magic and a white WITCH..MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH)
Harry Potter is just a character and stories...lighten up, JWs....

Ok....so some other churches I plan on visiting are the Advent Lutheran Church, and the Seventh Day Adventists. Can anyone else recommend any other Churches?
Definitely, check out the Catholic Church!!! If you have any questions regarding any part of the Mass, just ask. I'll be happy to help you out!
*I've visited lots of churches myself. One that I'm totally interested in going to is the Southern Baptist church. I'll let you all know how it goes!
Mary - Sorry that you didn't enjoy Easter Mass...I hope that you will visit on another occassion and have a better experience. It's different for everyone, I guess.
Cheers!

History of the Bible - JWs will not like this
by Amazing1914 inhistorically, the bible is a secondary support for christians and jews.
i was raised roman catholic, and our tradition and practices included the bible, but it was not a key centerpiece of our faith.
the jewish side of my family likewise have a rich history of tradition and faith that is lived, and not pinned down to every word in the bible.

Amazing..(you're truly Amazing)
I really enjoyed reading the info. you posted here. It's phenomenal and well researched. I agree 110%...not only b/c I'm Catholic, but b/c it makes so much more sense. This is what I've been telling my husband all this time...that before the Bible became what we read today it went through a lot of revision and thus, much changed/altered and things were added/removed...who knows??
I love it when things like this get posted b/c I print it and learn it so that I can attack my JW in-laws if they ever come at me with ther crap!
Thanks so very much!!!!!!!!!!!
