I was in for about 25 years. I was disfellowshipped 9 years ago. For the first 4 years, when asleep I would frequently have dreams about JWs. The I started doing some informal research. I read both books written by Raymond Franz; I obtained some information from the Bible Research and Commentary Institute (www.brci.org). After about a month of research, I came to the realization that Jehoveah's Witnesses are not God's orgainzation. They are not the "true religion." Since then I have chosen to never go back. Getting disfellowshipped was probably the best thing that ever happened to me.

Your "New" Traditions?
by whyamihere ingrowing up as a jw, we were never allowed to have holidays or birthday's etc..... never able to show my brothers affection on their special day killed me.
now every year, i sing "happy birthday" to my brothers nick and ben.
i call them on their birthday, if they pick up the phone i yell and tell them i am going to leave a voice mail message.

I was disfellowshiped when my children were 13 & 14 years old; they had never celebrated holidays or birthdays. Now, every year at Christmastime, I give them gifts signed "from Santa". We all get a big kick out of it. I now vote in every election.

I think "cult" and "mind control." I often think of the scripture that says that when the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed. Jehovah's Witnesses are truly imprisoned. I glad I became free.
