Why should there be two sets of rules?
The rules are nonsensical, based on lies, and the ways they are "inculcated" are bizarre, even cruel. It's a religion of deprivation and the Williams have, in some way, escaped that, without being punished for it. Why is that a bad thing?

I think it gets under our skin because so many of us gave up so much just to claim the moniker "Jehovah's Witness".
Well, if there's a trend of Witnesses having to "give up less" to become or remain Witnesses, so much the better (although in this case, I think it's an anomaly of celebrity).
I think it also is a bit of them wanting to have their cake and eat it too mentality that is always irking.
I think you're being unfair -- the Williams sisters' affiliation with the religion is not something they make a big deal of. Some disgruntled ex-Witnesses do, though, because of ... jealousy, curiosity, self-pity, I don't know.
It is clear from witness interpretation of the Bible that they are not behaving as "true Christians".
So? Fuck the Witness interpretation of it. If they're in some kind of loophole, getting away with stuff we'd've been nailed on, hooray for them. Do you want them to go stoically through their careers, disdaining their own talents, rejecting the frills of celebrity, simply because they haven't publicly reconciled every aspect of their behavior with the strange, cult-like religion in which they've been raised?
Anyone can say they are anything and hypocrisy is just aggravating.
Now they're hypocrites? How quickly and harshly you judge, Joel!
Just my opinion, but I can enjoy their talent without projecting my Witness angst on it.

Aw, leave the Williams sisters alone. If they are "in good standing," maybe they'll be good role models for Witness kids who still aren't allowed to play sports ... If they aren't "in good standing," then they can enjoy their tremendous and well-deserved success without bothering about a stupid religion holding them back. What's important is that they're kick-ass tennis stars lighting up an otherwise pretty dull (at the moment) sport.

Why doesn't anyone talk to Witnesses about the Organization's doctrine of genocide, the mass murder of the world that is doctrine for all Witnesses? Instead, posters here chose as topics Russell, pyramids, the fall of Jerusalem, chronology ... the easiest stuff for a Witness to shrug off. It's more difficult for people to shrug off the arbitrary death of babies and puppies, as depicted and described in the Society's literature. I'd try to get them on that.

As a closing point, I noticed this year that Devil-talk seemed to dominate the program. Hardly a talk went by without attributing something nefarious to Satan. He’s been one busy guy this this year – programming video games, writing books, singing, running the entire internet, designing clothes, dating young sisters, running tattoo parlors, fighting wars, terrorizing the world, shooting documentaries, masterbating, teasing children… He seems very creative. God, on the other hand, seems to have pissed away the whole year making infinitesimal adjustments to dots on maps.
