Does Watchtower Society monitor this board?

i have even made that point myself in the past.. my question is this: does the wtbts monitor this discussion board?.

or have we all been propagating our own xjw urban myth?.

sounds like Franz, ......do you believe that barbara anderson is the only one that was privy to inside information? the large percent keep their mouths shut because they quiver in their boots at the thought of the big "D." Like living a lie is a better option.....

of course, this too is only my opinion on who does the monitoring, and you may be right. We do know that it is monitored, and like people here have commented, it really doesn't matter, except of course to those involved in legal battles with the WTS, and those with damaging information.

I still believe that they "post," and that an outsider does not have enough background to divert issues and attempt to "readjust (the) thinking" of those familiar with the religion......(lurkers included)

and look at Franz, that fiasco didn't curb them from putting JWs in positions with access to confidential information.........they don't care, if their little "yes men" get too independent, they just df them and label them apostates. Who would listen to apostates?

do you know if the "legal dept." is comprised of JWs?

hi dutchie, I posted my last comment before I saw yours.....as for non-JWs monitoring, you said:

yes that's true, and may very well be.....a person that has never been around drugs could also be trained to work undercover busting crackhouses.....but why would you bother going to all the bother of "training" a "green" person when you have tons of "experienced" people that will most likely do it for free? I mean, "they'd be doing Jehovah's work......." anyway, can you imagine the "training?" It takes JWs years of brainwashing before they understand "hovie" talk.......and who would provide this training?

there would be no better person to trust with "apostate" information than a devout JW.....we all know you could wave the original paperwork from the U.N. under their noses and it would be nothing more than "apostate" trickery.....an outsider couldn't be trained to think like a JW..........besides that, I believe that the monitors "post," and only a JW could manage "damage control..."

I don't think they care about congregations.....I think they're interested in obtaining info on possible defenses and possible scandals.

I just have to add this comment to the Watchtower Society's monitoring "yes- men,"

Your spokesman, Semonian, said:

"You'd calmly discuss it together so you can bring them back to their senses."

Isn't this a pre-determination on your part that this "member's" concern holds no validity, that his question is one of irrationality and pre-determined by you, to be without merit? Why bother "discussing" a member's "concern" if you've already determined that they need to be "brought back to their senses," before you've even heard what they have to say?

what difference does it make if the monitoring is done on a "daily" basis, a "weekly" basis, or on a "as-needed" basis? It's not as if the information here disappears at the end of the day.......

again, a quote from Semonian, WTS spokesman in the above thread:

the Bible directs the WTS to "readjust the thinking" of critical posters on the web?...... when reading this article, you have to ask yourself, "how exactly would they "discuss" a matter with a anonymous poster?

Semonian then goes on to say that "they wouldn't disfellowship, they want to keep their members," or something to that effect......since when are "posters" on an apostate website members that the WTS is concerned with keeping?

as for a "non JW" monitoring....how helpful would this be?

Path, you mention that a paralegal could find a better job than the WTS.....of course they could, and most men could make better money than they do working for WT's printing press.......what's your point?...I thought you read the article, you were commenting on it........

well, today i did something that in most years past i would have believed would have resulted in me being struck by lightning; i attended a religious service other than the jw's.

this is the first time i've ever been to another religious service.

I did a paper on "Unitarian-Universalists" in a comparative religion class and I was so impressed by the "thinking" done by its members, that I also ended up attending.....

the oral paper done on the JWs (in class) was also very impressive, I have to admit. The speaker went on about the low divorce rate, low criminal rate, on and on about how wonderful this religion was......I wondered where he got his information because I have to admit, the religion sounded like one that you'd want to part of.....I finally asked his partner where they had found their information, I should've known, he was a witness...... I'll betcha he counted it as "service time...."

Too much bad language, sex & pics

please can everyone think twice before they make posts containing bad language (even if not directed at individuals), graphic sex talk and nude or semi-nude pictures (especially if explicit).

this is not what the forum is here for.

if you want to post stuff like that then there are lots of places on the internet for it and, more importantly, if people want to see and read stuff like that then they are quite capable of going to these places themselves.. i know everyone likes to 'let their hair down' now and again, me included, and i like pictures of sexy women as much as anyone .

personally, the sex threads don't bother me and I generally skip over them....I don't nearly enjoy "discussing" sex as I enjoy "having" sex, and I don't need a "thread" for that........

But I do find the large number of sex threads odd, I mean isn't that like

going to a whorehouse to discuss religion?

This is what a spokesman for the WTS had to say regarding monitoring the web:

"But David Semonian, spokesman for the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, admitted the group sometimes looks at the website "when necessary." He also said it attempts to "readjust (the) thinking" of those who post material critical of the religion on the web."

Why in the world wouldn't legal monitor?
