Too much bad language, sex & pics

  Please can everyone think twice before they make posts containing bad language (even if not directed at individuals), graphic sex talk and nude or semi-nude pictures (especially if explicit)

  THIS IS NOT WHAT THE FORUM IS HERE FOR

  If you want to post stuff like that then there are lots of places on the internet for it and, more importantly, if people want to see and read stuff like that then they are quite capable of going to these places themselves.

  I know everyone likes to 'let their hair down' now and again, me included, and I like pictures of sexy women as much as anyone but there is a time and a place and when it's becoming 'all the time' and 'all over the place' it is becoming too much.

  The odd thread occassionaly is Ok as long as it doesn't get out of hand but frankly I have been ashamed to be hosting some of the things posted in the last few days. Again, I would remind people that there is a huge difference between light-hearted banter and a bit of innuendo and 'in your face' pictures and descriptions.

  If you don't like something that's been posted, please email me - posting something worse yourself 'to make a point' makes no point whatsoever other than making things worse.

  Amen! I wouldn't have second thoughts in removing them. If they want a vile and spiteful site, let them create their own and invite like ones to that site. I come here to view 'insights.'

  I know that I really don't even have to state this, because it's very obvious: posts, language, and pics such as the ones Simon is referring to only serve to damage the credibility of this board and add fuel to the argument no doubt made by some that this board does not really attract poeple who are sincerely interested in finding out about the jw religion.

  It's great, I think, that this board has in a sense become a community. People who commune togther, from my experience, will no doubt speak frankly from time to time, and also joke and kid around quite often. That's a major reason why I'd much raher spend time here than at some of the other jw-oriented sites. But the credibilty of the board and thus those who frequent it should always be given consideration too.

  Totally agree. Thanx for taking a stand!! There is a place and time for everything, we just need to realize what purpose this board serves. I do not come here for the pornogrophy and the foul lanuage. Likewise I reccommend people to come here for information, not for a cheap thrill. Like you said for those who wish to endulge in such then there is a place for it, but NOT HERE.

  Simon, have you thought about password protecting the adult forum? You could email whoever requested the password and then noone would have to see anything their tender eyes didnt want to.

  Or having a simple tickbox for adult content, in the profile, thereby unlocking the Adult section and allowing it on the "Active" list.

  It would be fairly simple, have little overhead, and with a little sensible placing of threads in the right section should reduce offended sensibilities.

  As long as the peppered (lightly distributed) bad language is not being directed AT an individual poster, I cannot for the life of me, understand why someone can complain.

  Puritanical watchtower whitewashing of every utterance is insane.

  Perhaps these complainer's need only pick up any classic novel, that has not been sanitized by the politically correct police, to discover that some bad language, goes a long way in getting the point across.

  Anyone in the US who went through the public school system, jw or not, learned all the four letter words very early in life.

  There really is no replacement words for expressions like 'bullshit', somehow cow droppings just doesn't cut it. Or how about 'dickhead', does phallic symbol head do the trick?

  Take the sex pictures to a password protected forum, but leave the choice of non-abusive language a personal mode of chosen expression.

  I think some do protest to much.
