but more and more lately, i don't know if it's me, or the forum, but i've noticed more and more hate.
we've always disagreed, so i don't know if lately we just bring more bullshit to the board or what, but there's this splitting of sides.

A board always disagrees, like a barful of patrons, but lately it seems like it's more deconstructive than anything else. All of us probaly enjoy reading the flame threads, but also those, as of lately, have gotten mean-spirited, where it's just depressing to even comment.
I'll get to my point and shut up. Life is so short. I'm 28 and I buried a friend with cancer last week. He left behind two kids. It happened so quickly that noone knew how serious it was and the next thing , he was dead. It's still a shock. So. I, for one, am tired of bickering. I didn't say of debating, I'm just tired of being filled with hate for imaginary enemies on an internet board. I've got a kid, like a lot of you do. I finally came to the realization that my child, and the time I spend with this child is precious. And the time I spend with you is precious. So, I'll disagree, like I always do, but if I begin to be hateful, please feel free to kick me in the ass to remind me that both of our times on this earth is for such a limited time, we don't want to waste it being stupid. If I've offended any of you in the past, I truly didn't mean too. I find it a honour to be able to communicate with you in this lifetime. We'll all be dead and gone soon enough.

But you, Mr. Hughes, show the courage to stand alone, and also show the strength to go against the majority in your life, even when it means losing what most men do not lose in a lifetime. I pray that those who have also lost their reason for being, find the strength to stand with you, so that those in the future will allude the pain that a society placed upon your shoulders.

this is definitely getting redundant, but an attempt should be made to clarify. By stating that posters should get of their asses and DO something instead of just criticizing what others have done, it was never implied that Bill or any other poster should never be questioned. What was implied, by me at least, is that Bill is a free agent, he doesn't require the "go ahead" from anyone here, at least as far as I know, before he can send a letter to the WTS. And to be honest, I didn't even notice the names of posters on the "letter thread," what I did notice is that by the time I finished reading the 3-4 pages of the thread, one would've thought that the world was going to come crashing down because of this letter that Bill had written. I wish that a letter written by Bill to the WTS would get a fraction of the attention that posters were proclaiming it was going to get. I didn't comment until Lew alluded to as much in this thread. And my comment was not made because I felt Bill was above questioning! There were other threads other than the letter thread in which Bill's actions were questioned, and I don't believe I commented in any of them, so to believe that my comment regarding the "letter thread" is due to my belief that noone should be questioned is total nonsense. But I believe that everyone here has noticed recently that the sensationalism is not limited to Bill's actions, but to the reactions to Bill's actions as well. And the exagerration surrounding that letter is but one example. (et's see, how many pages is it up too now?) point made.
My initial comment was intended to say " look, for all of the ones that go on and on and on, all the time, and are now going on yet again about the content of a letter written by someone that, shocker, is not inhibited when it comes to the WTS, who was disfellowshipped for opening his mouth, well if you are now suddenly shocked by his actions, instead of criticizing, and excuse me but criticizing was what was being done, instead of criticizing him on a public forum, why don't you e-mail him and suggest helping him out. Posters were going on about "yea, he should check with a lawyer, he should do this, he should've done that." Well if you're concerned enough to be so concerned about the effect of this letter, why don't you get together and help SilentLambs finance a lawyer ! It's easy enough to sit on a keyboard and criticize someone else's actions, but why don't people worry about what they themselves are doing before they're so fast to condemn. Some posters act as if Bill is a politician that owes them explanations because they put him in office. sorry guys, Bill's actions, good or bad, are basically his business.
What was meant, was there are always going to be people that do nothing more than complain. I did not intend for anyone to think that I was personally accusing any posters of never doing anything, or certainly not that anyone was above being questioned. And I certainly apologize to any posters that believed I was directing my comment at them. My comment was directed at people in general, lurkers included. There is alot of energy on this forum and I agree with Lew, its a shame that it can't be organized into something more constructive. (also, comf, I believe the difference between questioning and criticizing, is criticizing is after the fact.)

And if you wanted you could use your own advice and go to a forum where YOU can dictate the content of all conversations between all posters so YOU will be completely happy with all the words used by all posters and make a list of what they should think, when they can think it and or how they should express it in order to "qualify" and be deemed acceptable enough to be a member of the same forum you are. I miss the point? Did I say that posters should not voice their opinion ? And by the way, didn't I see a thread started by you a couple weeks ago in which you told the df'ed to stop whining and let the newbies whine, something to do with your brother ?
The point I was attempting to make is that Bill's letter and the importance attached to it, IN MY OPINION, was totally exaggerated. LIKE I ALREADY STATED, by some of the opinions posted one would have thought that the ENTIRE JW POPULATION was going to have read this letter by Monday morning, it was going to be published in every major paper , news about Iraq was going to take a backseat to this LETTER ! For GOD'S SAKE the ENTIRE SILENTLAMBS CAUSE WAS GOING TO CRUMBLE NOW. And you know what, if it did, well BILL is the one that went on the line IN THE FIRST PLACE.
And please PLUM, the next letter that you go to the trouble of researching and writing and getting to the media, please share it with the board so all the intellects here can exagerrate and BITCH about how you've most likely RUINED the EX-JW MOVEMENT, and tell you how they WOULD HAVE DONE IT.

This isn't about protecting Bill, obviously Bill does fine for himself. And this isn't about disagreeing. This is directed at a few, and no, not those that spoke against Bill, a few that no matter what, criticize the actions of others while they themselves do nothing. If you want to take it personally, have at it.......but just like you claim that you have the right to put in your two-cents, so do I.......

Did I ever ONCE say that I thought it "incorrect" to not like the letter ? Did I once say that anyone saying anything about the letter hasn't done anything ? I believe I said that it's a free country and Bill doesn't need anyone on this forum to authorize what he does anymore than anyone on this forum needs Bill to authorize what they do.
