He's actually the elder who's meant to give counsel to other elders to help them improve their own talks. He's quite old, and he's been a Witness for decades. He must be going senile.

Is Jehovah evil? Overheard at the public talk.
by Zico ini heard a new teaching from the public talk today that i'd never heard before.
the speaker asked a rhetorical question, asking if jehovah would be evil for killing 6 billion people during armageddon?
(yes, he actually said, killing 6 billion people) he then followed it up by saying 'yes!

I heard a new teaching from the Public talk today that I'd never heard before.
The speaker asked a rhetorical question, asking if Jehovah would be evil for killing 6 billion people during Armageddon? (Yes, he actually said, killing 6 billion people) He then followed it up by saying 'Yes! That would be evil!' This certainly caught my attention, I thought he might be giving a bit of an 'apostate' view here, but then he followed it up with a bizarre explanation.
He showed some scriptures where Jehovah killed people in the OT, and then stated, though, that in the Hebrew scriptures, evil is not always 'synonymous with badness' So Jehovah is evil, but not bad, and he said that eny evil he performed, was 'a necessary evil' and also 'a cleansing'
I have heard some ridiculous things from that platform, but this has to rank as one of the worst. I spoke to another Witness after who tried to defend him, but shortly after admitted it was a ridiculous argument. I'm still not even sure what point the speaker was trying to make.
Is this an official teaching? -

New Society DVD - Review
by Zico ini just got home from a wonderful evening out at a 'brother's' house.
after a good meal shared with some other brothers and sisters, you can't imagine my excitement when the host brother brought out the wonderful new society video that he'd recently received at the kingdom hall, and suggested we watch it!
now, as you can probably imagine, this was my idea of how to have fun on a saturday evening.

I just remembered another quote from the video that I found odd. It was referring to the disaster in Kobe, Japan. It said '13 Jehovah's Witnesses and 2 unbaptised associates died'
Are unbaptised publishers not Jehovah's Witnesses then?
I thought they were included in the official statistics, since they still need to put reports in. I'm sure unbaptised publishers are included in the 101 active publishers in my congregation?
If anyone who is unbaptised is not a Jehovah's Witness, will being an unbaptised associate not be enough to get you through Armageddon? -

Kingdom News #37 update and future propaganda
by truthseeker inthis morning, the elder taking the field service group said that all placements of kn37 had to be counted, with the campaign ending on november 12.. placements after the campaign could be made, but not counted.
the service was all hype.. now, let's imagine that all 6,500,000 witnesses placed 50 tracts.
how many would they place altogether?.

fullofdoubtnow,
We've already had a Service meeting talk on Kingdom News experiences! The SO said British bethel had received 50 requests for bible studies. Not much in a group of 60million UK Witnesses!
I've only heard of one study started in my circuit. With someone who hates religion and wants to find out if we're any different apparently. If that's the case, nothing will come of it. -

yesidid,
Not if I tell on you first! You need to learn your place!!!

The video was actually very poor. (I'm sure you'll all be shocked to hear this)
Lots of bad acting, fake smiles, and awful music. Parts were like watching a demo you might see at a hall or assembly, where one brother pretends to be a householder and they play out a situation that would never happen in real life, and other parts were like watching moving Watchtower pictures, where they desperately try to appear like a multicultural loving Organisation, and then they had the shots of young brothers helping older ones with chores, like mowing the lawn and stuff, which also never happens in real life.
Has anyone seen the 80s version of the Organisation video? They had the same type of poor backing tracks, poor acting, and bad lighting.
There was no alternative viewpoint, it was complete propaganda. It makes the whole Organisation seem so loving and well organised, when anyone who's honest with themselves will realise that's not the case. (Sadly, few Witnesses are honest with themselves)
I did get to do some subtle anti-Witnessing. The host said it was so good we had brothers who were pilots, doctors and lawyers, so they could help people, so I had a small discussion on the benefits of higher education, allowing you to get to do these things.
And after I left, another brother said that someone he met on the doors had asked him about charity work, and he didn't know what to say, but that video had helped a bit in case he gets asked again, so I spoke about James 1:27, to suggest they needed to do more. He agreed with me! So, not all bad. -

At the book study on Thursday, my father, the conductor, asked people how they were doing with this tract. Not one of them had placed there whole 50. Some pioneers have placed 200+, but that won't make up for the publishers who've placed hardly any.
I also ran into the SO in town on Friday, and I asked him how much terriroty they'd covered, and he admitted 'less than half' I pointed out to him that since they were only 100 publishers in our Congregation, and about 30,000 in our territory, we couldn't possibly have reached them all. He said 'Well, we've still got one weekend left, we've got to keep trying.' I'm not sure how he expected to do over half the territory in one weekend, when they'd not managed to do that in 3 weeks, and 5 days, not to mention the fact that it's impossible to give all those people tracts.
It won't even reach 3,250,000 people. -

Hi y'all,
I just got home from a wonderful evening out at a 'brother's' house. So we all gathered round the brother's television to watch this DVD. For those who don't know, this is the latest release from Jehovah's Organisation, released I believe, at their annual meeting last month. It as an update to the Organisation video from the 80s. Good stuff.
Now, I didn't make any notes, and I actually fell asleep during part of this video (I'm so naughty!) so I don't remember as much as I should, but I can recall the way they really stressed how wonderful the Society is, and how organised everything is, and how hard working all the friends were. They showed the big Lithoman presses, and went into a bit of detail about how they worked. Good machines! That's donations well spent there! Then they had some stuff about how they make the magazines. They showed you a photoshoot with a little girl doing the front cover of the recently released Awake! 'Why? Asking the hardest questions.' Have any of you seen it? Well, who needs a real poverty stricken girl when you can cover a wealthy New York girl in dirt and get her to make sad faces. So efficient! They gave us some details about the GB (Well, they didn't give any of their names, but they told us they had a Governing Body, and that's all we need to know, right?) And they also told us they had a writing committee, that does 'thorough research, that's reliable and informative' Reliable indeed, you'll never see a quote taken out of context in a Watchtower, and the information never changes... much, does it? There was also some stuff about how they translate publications. I'd tell you more, but I don't want to insert too many spoilers!
There was some stuff about Kingdom Hall building, which is the part I missed.
I did wake up in time to see Sam Herd giving a talk at Gilead! :) I always remember his name, since he's the black representative of this worldwide brotherhood and all.
What a wonderfully efficient Organisation! Now, I bet you can really imagine my excitement, as... there I was, disappointed that such a wonderful video had to come to an end, and then finding out that there was a second video on this DVD! Fantastic!
The Second one was called 'Our whole association of brothers'
It was split into 3 spiritually upbuilding sections, the first about how they spread the Good News around the Earth. Flying from village to village in Alaska, witnessing to incoming boats in the harbour in Antwerp, Belgium. Going from tribe to tribe in the Amazon rain forest in Peru. No other Organisation, err... I mean, religion, does this kind of preaching work! It really made me think, if these brothers can go through all this, why should I complain about the simple service I have to do? So encouraging! The best part was when they showed the Witness with the return visit on the Village chief! He looked funny, LOL! We all had a good laugh at him (And he even had some topless tribeswoman in the background!!!)
There was another section about how much help the Society constantly gives disaster victims. Many experiences from brothers in Kobe, Japan, who got hit with an earthquake in 95, and how the Society and other brothers came to their aid. I believe the Society donated £1.4 million to the cause, now that's a lot of money! And then there was some stuff about hurricane Andrew in Florida, and some great news reports about how helpful the brothers were. Don't feel distressed now though, whilst we may not be able to help disaster victims, the Society gave us a great reminder, that we always have the option to help elderly and infirm ones, like millions of Witnesses do around the world! I haven't noticed this much in my Congregation, but worldwide, I'm sure it's different!
The last section was about how the Witnesses dealt with being under ban in places like Estonia and Malawi. They never compromised. Funnily enough, they never mentioned Mexico, I'm sure something had gone on there as well? But, nevermind eh? I had to leave during the Malawi part, I needed the toilet, seriously, he had a nice pair of scales in his bathroom, I've reached 10 stone now! :) (Going up, I'm on a reverse diet!) But that's going off the point...
Like I said, good stuff. I recommend it to all! -

No. Pre-March/April, when I started to find out the Truth about the Truth, my ambition was to go to MTS.
In fact, this became an on and off ambition till about July, when I finally accepted they had it completely wrong, and decided to work towards getting out. I've been fading ever since.
