New Revelation Book

well, it's not big news, but there will be a new revelation book coming out.

it is already published and sitting in the wallkill warehouses.

makes me think why they are giving out dozens of corrections first, and shipping the new book later?

Yes there is an existing paperback Rev Climax book, but they're printing new paperback editions with all the corrections in. There's more than the 70 printed in the KM, but they're just statistical updates.

think about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.

why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?

as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.

Sooooo... if we are to do this 2520 'years' thing, wouldn't it be years that are 360 days for each each year? *puzzled look*

I don't want to rile up those who are working dilligently on arguing the 607 vs 5xx year... I am just sitting here thinking that one would need to start by multiplying the 'days' (2520) by 360 (Jewish 'years') and then divide by 365.25 - to arrive at the approximate... oh, never mind. It's all bunk anyway.

Jim, I think the 2520 years are reffering to "actual" years, rather than jewish or modern years.

For example, we have 365 days even tho an "actual" real year is 365.25 so we have an extra day in the year every 4 years to keep up with real time, similarly the Jewish years of 360 days often had longer years inserted, to keep up with real years. If you see what i mean!

So over many years, they jewish years and our years would average out to the same. Have i got that right, any chronologers out there?

That's another cost-cutting move from a publishing company in decline.

Hate to ruin this for you but they've published a new edition, albeit a paperback one. So i guess now you'll be saying "oh in paperback, that's another cost-cutting move..." etc etc

Mmmm, so let me get this straight: First, the disobedient angels rebelled in the days of Noah. They went down to the earth to have hot, steaming demon-sex with the women on earth. What happened after that? Were they let back into heaven (such as they would have to be, for the WTS-theory about 1914 to be correct), or were they incarcarated in Tartarus? According to the Bible, the latter is correct. During his three days of death, Jesus went to visit them in the underworld, according to the Bible. Obviously, the disobedient angels were not let back into heaven (still, the WTS insists that they were). Jesus was tempted on earth by Satan, being offered the kingdoms of the whole world, if he would bow down and worship him. Jesus refused. Was Satan still in heaven? Clearly not. He had allready been condemned after the uprising against God in the days of Noah, and kicked out. The war in heaven happens long, long before Jesus comes to earth! This is clear in the Bible. But still, what does the WTS say? They say that Satan was allowed to hang around in heaven, even after the rebellion in the days of Noah, even after he tempted Jesus in the desert, etc. Not only is this completely inlogical, but there is also absolutely nothing in the Bible that indicates that Satan was allowed to do this. Quite the opposite. The disobedient angels are in Tartarus (hell), not in heaven, and this is where Jesus goes to visit them. Not in heaven.

What about in Job 1 v6 and chapter 2 v1 where Satan is clearly shown to be at least momentarily, in heaven, before God and all the angels. This would seem to contradict what you said, and also the WT stance that Satan was locked out of heaven as it were.

Also, isn't "tartarus" a verb, which Peter borrowed from a poet of the day? Its not meant to describe an actual place, rather a state of being. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

sorry auldsould you're right the essay doesn't specifcaly address the OM reference.

i'm well aware as you are of the difference between joining the UN and joining the UNDPI. either way, the spirit of the OM ref was to say, do not become a part of an organisation under judgement by God, as this would make us also under judgement by God due to our becoming actively associated with it. would you agree thats what the book was saying? but when the WT decided to register the WTBTS corp with the dept, they may well have just been doing so because they thought like this:

we need access to the research materials, and we were told that to do that our legal body needs to register with the relevant dept, so thats what we'll do.

they may not have viewed it as becoming part of an organisation under judgement by god, rather merely registering with a dept to get a library card.

conversely of course, they might have been thinking, lets secretly become part of the UNDPI to further our corporate agenda, which i gather is what a large percentage of people on this board believe, but without any evidence whatsoever. and no, i have no evidence whatsoever for my belief that it was an honest mistake. its all conjecture. what we can't do is use this whole UN debacle as proof that its not "the truth".

All the questions made here have been addressed in the jehovahs judgement site essay.

I'm disfellowshipped, but I still believe it to be thre truth, but the reason i don't bother is cos I just like doing the things you can't do!!

Its just I sometimes hate to see the beliefs of the JWs misrepresented like they often are here, and the society being maligned often without much reason. It seems you can believe anything you like on here, apart from what the witnesses teach! I don't think joining the UN/DPI was a particularly clever move at all, in fact i think they were silly to do it, but i'm afraid i don't impune any malice or bad motive to the governing body, they just made a stupid mistake. Cue flaming!!
