whooah, quick builds were allowed? damn I could have been a special pioneer so! Probably could have counted the site prep hours too.. the "quick builds" have an awful lot of ancillary building around them thats never mentioned in any of the PR!

Inaccurate hours recorded
by snare&racket inignoring the fact that all but the super jw's had a random stab at hours done in the ministry, with all the different activities the society said counted as ministry hours, just how accurate is there annual report?.
what activities do you know of that were allowed to be counted as ministry time?

I remember the flip flop on the blood issue to allow "fractions"... painted it as this revolutionary new medical treatment. Of course plasma and platement seperation is old hat to put it mildly. Reminds me of the pharisees straining out the knat and gulping down the camel! Only reason that the military service wasn't an issue was growing up in a neutral country with a pathetic army anyway.
But the "brothers" dedication to the "cause" was used to guilt trip us into being good little dubs. Obey god as ruler rather than men.. where did god say military service was anything like being drafted to go and actually kill your fellow man. All these "legal" challenges to boggle the mind though "be in subjection to the superior authorities" only seems to apply to the underlings and not the legal department!

Ex-Witnesses in Ireland...
by jdhf inhey there....i've been noticing that there are quite a few support groups in other countries for those who leave the 'truth'.
i am appealing to those who are in the emerald isle to see if there is any chance we can get together and enjoy 'real' association, being of same minds etc.
anyway... i will put this out there and hopefully those in ireland will get in touch and we can support each other!

Yeah having left after a while you realise how hollow "fellowship" in the org was, be a good dub :(
What I have found since leaving the org is no one that wasn't in the org understands what it was like no matter how much you try to explain what seems more nonsensical by the day.

Could only open 45 doors and there is nothing behind it then, ends up with a semi-circle of doors that can't be opened or closed. Ah brings back memories of wandering around estates in the freezing cold and peddaling the tripe of WTBS!!

Yeah, in the org women were pretty easy to figure. The young ones were after the whatever pioneer brother was available. The married ones were always trying to get their hubbies promoted. And the divided home sisters were more grounded in reality.
"Worldly" ™ women are much more varied and overall a mystery in some ways. The dating scene is quite confusing because unlike in the org people have more freedom and with that comes more things to be indecisive about.

Lets see I was 17 and I suppose I did it to belong because my mother was in and thanks to being brought up in the truth™ I had no life outside of it anyway. After baptism I still didn't belong in the congregation I was expected to be a good JW but was left out of stuff and passed over for stuff because of who you knew or were related to. The internal politics was confusing to me then, looking back I see how petty and pathetic it was and also realised that the baptism questions were about dedication to the borg.

my wife and i left together.
she saw the sham long before i did - though neither of us could 'put our finger on' what was wrong until we read coc, found the internet, etc.. i believe my wife leans toward atheism more than i do - i consider myself agnostic of the whole matter at this point.

Some things are easier to get rid of than others, the meetings and field service I just threw out the window, but all the rules and regulations that runied my childhood are something that I am stil coming to terms with. Well its my birthday next week and I'll be celebrating it so I'm past that point, then I have a date with a wordly™ girl and no chaperone , its taken along time to get to this point but everynow and then I cast off another vestiage of my past. I voted in an election for the first time yesterday felt good to vote for a real governement and not a hypothetical one in the sky. There are some things that I would not do still, but I probably wouldn't have done them even if I was never a JW so they're ok.
I still have problems dealing with my extended non-JW family, even though I'm out I don't see them because they cut off contact years ago when my parents first got involved, its a legacy that I have to deal with.
The there are things likes like phycis and other stuff like that, I don't know how to view alot of these things, is it a case of doing all the things that were forbidden for the sake of it? I don't want to do that, but I find that I have to figure out who I really am and what I want. I still think that some of the experience will always be with me and I can never totally get rid of it.
