I know some d’f-jws who have been d’f many years ago and still believe in jwism. They don’t have the strength to go back and feel unworthy to stand with faithful jws. This is very sad, because when they see the news they fear Armageddon is coming any time and will destroy them.

When I left the org I wasn’t sure about many things and was afraid of “Satan’s” world. I still believed in some of the things I grow up with. But I left with a somewhat clean conscience and believed if the big-A comes I will not be put to death, because Jah knows I left for good reason. Soon after having some distance form the constant manipulation I realised that its is just an end-time-cult. fts

The real impact of "apostate" sites

in a recent discussion with a couple of district overseers and other heavies , the topic of the internet and apostate sites came up.

i asked what impact these were making , numerically , among jws.

the prevailing view was that , numerically , there was negligible impact.

We were told apostates leave Jehovah, return to the falsehood of Babylon (worship Mary and Jesus, the trinity, the cross, heaven and hell), don’t go door-to-door, don’t use Jehovah’s name. Apostates don’t follow Jehovah’s theocratic arrangement on earth. The world is ruled by Satan, everything out there is vanity. To a convinced JW it is always "exactly" as the WTS says. Independent thinking and criticism of the WT is already considered apostate tendency.

To see through the deception of these warnings is what breaking free from high control groups all is about. Those who have freed themselves will do research and will eventually learn to be tolerant, to disagree and to debate. Even debates among Christians are disrespectful and hostile.

Many of us have gone through a long journey and are still travelling. Some have become ‘real’ Christians other have become Buddhists, atheist, whatever. Independent thinking can bring you too many places. Everywhere you will find good and bad. Most ex-jws left for many reasons, some go back.

We were made to believe Independent Thinking means being alone, isolated seeking ones own selfish desire. The internet can surly help those leaving the WT today find much association with other independent thinking people and gain access to valuable information. I think that’s a great impact! fts

Visiting New York Bethel

my jw kids have been invited to visit the brooklyn bethel....during the grand wazzooo annual meeting this oct. i am a df'd dad living away from them for almost a year now...hardly any contact with them.

what can i do to prepare them and help them see the light?

any suggestions???

Visiting WT-HQ can be persuasive or an eye-opening. If they already are involved with the JW life and follow it, the HQ visit will not make much difference. Try to keep the communication open with them and never loose contact if possible.

I doubt Russell and the Masons followed the same objective. As far as I have seen, there is no registered evidence of Russell’s membership. He surly was attracted to and adopted many Mason symbolisms and teachings. It doesn’t really matter to me if he was or not. Seeing Russell’s weird presentations of truth in his early WT publications shows the cultic nature of my former religion.

I think its ok to discuss the Russell/Mason issue. I always learn something new. But it has not been discussed at this thread. fts

What outward signs of apostacy are evident in your house?

if the elders came and inspected your home - what would they find?.

a casual look around reveals a box of "narnia" tissues on my desk, 12 or 14 non-witness translations of bibles on my shelves, many non approved novels [wifey's] on the reading table, plenty of 'apostate literature', a book or two on meditation, a hypnosis cd for weight loss, prob many toys that are not witness approved in the g-kids room, a half eaten birthday cake, a birthday balloon, xmas wrapping paper in the closet , a couple of r rated movies, music that is not acceptable.. that is just at first blush.

A few years ago I accommodated a visiting elder (friend of the family). All I had to do is tidy up my small apartment. Strangely enough there is nothing he could get me d’fed. Rather the opposite I would have gotten him in trouble if I wanted to. He has a serious alcohol problem which he successfully denies. He explains that alc doesn’t affect him like it does other (he only drank Rum, Whisky and Vodka, because, as he says, beer doesn’t work with him). He’s never drunk, only tired. Every night he would drink at least ¾ bottle of strong spirit. Most of the day he spent sleeping! Also he liked my DA sister who has a boyfriend. He talked and associated with her and called her up at work. Remember, he is an elder (PO) and my sister is DA. But it was the arrogance, the self-righteousness and the condemning of others which made me ask him to leave. No more JWs at my home. Never again! fts

charles taze russell was born in 1852 (february 16) in pittsburgh, pennsylvania.

he was raised in a strict presbyterian home.

1868 (age 16) in an encounter with a non-believer he became disillusioned over the subject of whether god as a heavenly father would burn his children in hell.

Russell was really kind of OK, but Rutherford was the real Jerk" apology.

I also disagree with this. CTR was a greedy false prophet, he put his writings above the bible which he claimed to follow and put together his teaching taking form other failed doomsday prophets before him. Rutherford took things a lot further also motivated by greed to further gain control and authority. IMO, the main difference between them was time and opportunity. fts
