Interesting, it is said that the anointed ones do not have more insights nor holy spirit then the other sheep. Also they must obey the elders and GB.
How come there is no mention of them being members of the FDS class which Jesus appointed over all his belongings?

GB on Airplanes

have you ever heard of anyone running into the gb on an airliner?

i have not and so that only leads me to believe that they charter jets to move them around the world.

how do they travel?.

When a married couple in our congregation left to go back home to the US (about 1990?) it happen to be that GB Henschel and the German Branch Overseer were on the same plane. The brothers that came to say "good buy" joked that now they can be certain to have a safe trip, since the GB is on board.
The WT heavies traveled first class. An elder said this was necessary because of their old age.

I think it is good that it was said that these policies dont build bridges, but separates people.

i just had to send a letter to the editor (see my next post) after the waynesville, north carolina local newspaper published this lovely little puff piece about jehovah's witnesses.. the last parts about blood transfusion and the "loving practice" of disfellowshipping were so absurd!.

To me the article sounds like it came directly from the WT PR department! I wonder what connection the writer has with the society?

these sex laws have bothered me for some time.

until coming here i was unaware of all the pedophilia problems in the org.

the interesting thing about these two bible laws are that if a girl was engaged, and screamed during rape, the rapist only is executed.

The scriptures claim to be inspired of god and tell us about gods doing. I think this is a very poor protection for woman. There are so many detailed laws and rules in the bible including harsh punishments for other matters. But, when is comes to rape, marrying the rapist is the only solution. Was the victim asked if she agrees? Imagine what a terrible life that is.
Yes, it surly is a man’s book. As a jw I always asked myself, was it not possible to teach the Israelites that the woman has the same value just like she had before she became a victim?
An elder explained to me, in those hard days the people were not ready for such instructions. I told him that they were closer to Adam and Eve, closer to perfection and aren’t we today living in the last days which are critical and hard to deal with. I also mentioned Lot's willingness to sacrifice his daughters to the mob. Lot’s wife was put to death for looking back, but there is no mention of jehovah’s displeasure over Lot’s behaviour.

Just reading the scriptures shows that the bible was not very effective when protecting woman and their rights.

Deuteronomy did not encourage rape, neither did it do much to prevent it. The victim had to carry much of the guilt and was punished either way.

Judges 21:19-23:

Oompa, here is another scripture I find very disturbing:

Numbers 31:17, 18 (KJ)
“Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, KEEP ALIVE FOR YOURSELVES.”
