What about suggesting telephone witnessing or letter writing? Tell her to follow Jesus directions to go out in twos and not alone (there are WT articles dealing with safety in service). Older sister down here take clap-chairs to sit in and hold up the WT, tell her a German brother told you this is working very well.

Help! My "devout" JW's mom is "pioneering" at age 76 on a cane.
by booker-t inposters i have tried "everything" to show my mom that the wts is full of beans but she just won't budge.
i have heard through some non-jw's relatives that my mom who is 76 years old and having alot of problems with her knee is pioneering.
i am so worried about her standing in front of the donut shop or supermarket at 6:00 am.

SO, What happened to : "the generation will not pass away" idea ???????
by The_Replacement inokay, growing up a jw in the 70's 80's and early 90's, all we heard about was how the generation of 1914 will not pass away,(much like witnesses in the 60's and early 70's all heard about 1975) (what a great parallel) conventions, watchtower articles, public talks, endless studies and of course every issue of the awake magazine had it on the inside cover, it was everywhere, brothers, sisters and elders were absolutely sure about this, the society constantly mentioned it in our kingdom ministry (service), it was everywhere.
then with the change in november 1995, it just kinda disappeared and became unimportant.. does the society even mention "this generation will not pass away" anymore ?????.
seems to me, that the past 10 years, it has hardly been mentioned anywhere anymore.. what do you think ??

That change or “new light” did my family. My sister told me that the Sunday WT study was very awkward. The conductor quickly covered the paragraph blaming the brotherhood for speculating. She said she was glad I wasn’t there because I would have been annoyed about it. I which I had known about that Wt article, this was one study I would not have missed. I was upset with my sister for not telling my about this.
Later I meet a d’f brother who wanted to get reinstated because of the sort time left for this generation. He was shocked when I showed him the article, but got reinstated anyway. Today he denies it just like 1975.
Can’t wait for the next “Big New Light” to come. They will surly loose lots of members again.

Physically abusive JWs: Still going to PARADISE?
by LovesDubs ini feel like im in a bad dream most of my life, fighting back the poisons that have come into my family through the watchtower.
because i am married to a jw and his sister and her family are jws and my dad mother in laws 2nd husband is an elder, its pervasive and intrusive and insidious...and i feel like im running around stomping out fires constantly that might consume my children and take them away from me or me from them.
im exhausted from it.. my jw husband has always been an alcoholic.

Two Visits From Jehovah's Witnesses This Past Week
by TMS inmy wife and i were both on ladders painting the exposed boards of our storage shed on a weekday when a car pulled into the driveway across the street.
mr. and mrs. gomez were not at home.
like most of the homeowners in this community, they use these homes only on weekends or holidays.

Wow, I really hope he does return with one of his family. He didn’t lie when he said they are a very open family. I’m sure he having a hard time with the hypocrisy of the elders. Nice man. Well done.

WHAT MAKES EX-JW'S UNIQUE TO CREATE A DISCUSSION FORUM LIKE THIS?
by hopie inthere are millions world wide leaving their centuries old organized religions, why are ex-jw's joining together to create a fellowship and support system?.
are we the forerunners of something big?.
do we share something unique and don't know it?

In my city you can find different support groups for ex-cult members. I visited a mixed group some years ago and was amaized about how many similartites I could find. They are generally all the same just the terminologie is different. freetosee

It must have been creepy waking up. JW’s (I guess most other cult members are just the same) do the weirdest things. I’d love to hear her side of the story when she goes home to her congregation. I’m sure she prays for Jehovah to make the seed grow which she planted.
Her thinking is twisted but at least the motive was good. What her new husband told your father was pure provocation, since you are not d’f they might think you are closer to them as to him. I am happy your father was able to tell you about this.
Sorry about the harassment. I am so glad I don’t have to deal with it anymore. My father who is still an active witness I choose to have nothing to do with.
All the best for you.

"Smacking Yourself on the Forehead."
by scout575 in"as to your christian family + friends, you will realize that, if and / or when you tell them of your unbelief, you will find that these so called christians will leave you cold!!!
so much for christian love.".
"i agree with trashy... expect lots of time spent smacking yourself on the forehead, wondering how in the world you could have believed it for so long.

I think its great Scout in encouraging serious research before joining another religion. The researcher is invited to make his own decision. Preventing research and critical material is very JW like. Thanks for posting, freetosee

The topics that worked best with my family were:
- The identifying mark of love
- "spiritual paradise"
- Elders appointed by Holy Spirit
- Salvation only through the WTS
- "Generation" change in 1995 WT 1. Nov.
- Also highlighting the unbiblical terminology, like "publishers" instead of Christians, "field service report", "magazine placements"…
You know your brother best. What does he say when talking about the ‘truth’? Why does he not go to the meetings? What makes him believe in the WTS? What convinced him ‘to make the truth his own’?

In the early stage of becoming involved with Jehovah’s Witnesses newbies are influenced to think their own family is unknowingly being used by Satan to discourage them from following the ‘truth’. You are the deceived enemy Satan is using so as not to loose control over her. Anything you do or say against the WT Society will be treated a persecution. She may already trust JW’s more then you and your mother and will soon start preaching to you. So before you criticize or better question the JW organization, inform yourself well about the WTS. Your giving opposition is part of the game. Them taking advantage of you mother is not right. And the background of her man is troublesome. So keeping your sister and the children safe at your mother home is the best for now. Where is this man growing his marijuana? Where and when does he smoke it to control his rage? There will be more about this man. Make sure to report any kind of abuse.
Much strength to you and your family,
