you know how on the last day of a district assembly the chairman always give these great experiences about how the dubs that attended the assembly had great spiritual experiences while at dinner or at the hotel.

for about five straight years, a friend of mine (whose father was a jerk elder who thought anybody who drank should be df) would leave the assembly at lunchtime each day, go to a bar near the convention, and get drunk out of his mind!!!
A hotel chain had a special fee for jws and jws with children. This was done so as to have many jws book this hotel during the DC. This went on for some time until a letter of complaint was sent to the city overseer and past to the congregations. The main complain was about the behaviour of jw children. The hotel warned that they withdraw their special offer.
At a Thursday evening service meeting the elder who delivering this item had a copy of the letter (about three pages) and went through the list of complaints. The children and youths were reported to have caused disturbance to other guests by loud screaming and playing in the staircase and hall, sliding down the stairs. Taking the ice cubs out of the machine and throwing it at each other and all over the place. Also blocking the elevators, knocking people’s doors, etc. Broken mirrors and windows were reported.
The audience couldn’t help but giggle and laugh, one started and others followed. The elder insisted that this was very serious and has brought reproach on Jehovah’s name, but his wife was laughing too. After the meeting this was much talked about amongst the brothers and the main blame was put to the children of interested ones.

Plmkrzy, is this still going on today? I haven’t been at the meetings for long, but this is a big issue for me. I got lots of spanking in the kh bathroom and at very meeting you saw parents taking their little ones downstairs into the bathroom and you could still hear the beating and screaming.
I thought this was changed since the wt April 1st, 1998. This long time advocating of child abuse is a prime reason mental instability of jw raised in the truth. In Germany it is illegal to beat children since 1950 I wonder how the politicians secretly ruled by Satan got the ‘light’ before the FDS. Welcome to the 21st Century!

My brief encounter was positive. For a early 90ties special convention in Germany seven GB members visited. Jaracz and Henchel came to our hall unannounced. We had many visitors that day due to the convention ahead. I was there early to prepare the mics and literature. Henchel came in alone and early while the hall was still empty, he was tall and wore a hat. He went straight to the second row from the back and sat by the window. I thought he was a disfellowshipped person because of his shy behaviour. Not being sure I went over to say hello to him. Henchel stood up and shook by hand but shied away from a conversation. When the PO came he told me Henchel will be giving the talk and asked if he had arrived. I said I don’t know, don’t think so. Only briefly before the meeting started did we realise who the old man in the back of the hall was. Every one was exited and nervous, especially the elders. I thought, wow, MG is really humble.
Jaracz entrance was very different, he came not long before the meeting started and had a delegation following him. Every eye turned to see the GB member. The PO welcomed him and told TJ how privileged we feel about his visit. And that was very true! The PO told me that now Jaracz will deliver the talk and what song to be played. Then TJ spoke the opening prayer. I was disappointed by his talk, because I thought COs are good speakers, the DOs are even better, so the GBs should be the very best. His talk was ok but not what I expected it to be like. In his talk he said that he was Christian (don’t remember the domination) before he became jw and never read the bible then. Only through the society did he learn to find scriptures and understand and use them. Henchel gave the concluding prayer after the wt study.
Now they were both surrounded by all in attendance. I felt privileged to sake TJ’s hand, he gave a warm handshake and continued to the next person. It was impossible to converse, since everybody wanted to meet them. The GB members seemed friendly, I was more disturbed by the behaviour of the people around them. Jaracz seemed much more important then Henchel, I thought it was due to age. fts
