If it was out and out illeagel the WTS would have said 'Don't do it' but it was not illeagal so it became a matter of conscience. Not every brother in Mexico brought a card. Some refused to buy a card. It is ok for people come here and go on about how the WTS twists the truth....but a lot of people here are just has guilty for twisting the truth....including everyones new god 'Raymond Franz' What ever he says must be right, with out question. But now I have read his book...he is just a bitter, twisted old man.

What I am saying...for all his (Raymond Franz) ranting and raving he did not say much to convince me that the WTS is such a bad and evil place. It read like he was just picking holes. The biggest thing he could mention was the Mexico and Malawi situation. And when I did more research on that....it turns out in Mexico, the government required the JW's to do military service. However, you could buy your way out of that requirement. The GB decided the brothers could go down that option. It was not and illegal bribe has so many stated...even I, at one time, believed it was an illegal bribe....but it was not.
In Malawi a brutal dictator insisted on a one-party state. He and his henchmen forced everyone in the country to join his political party.
Obviously, the Witnesses refused and the GB also said not to. The government's youth groups, in retaliation, decided to beat up and kill many witnesses. -

Ok...I misunderstood the question...of course there is no harm in having a laugh and a joke...even during the meetings it is ok...to a reasonable level. I thought the question was refering to people who just acted immature for their age or just acted in a stupid (not funny) way.
Mmmmmm! I have read the book...by the way...that was my opinion of the book. If you don't like my feelings on what he wrote...tough...see if I care.

There is immature behaviour in lots of other places...not just in the KH. There is even immature behaviour on JWD site. I think we need to stop judging by the actions of individual person or JW's but maybe more by the actions of the WTS. I saw immature behaviour in my KH, but it never bothered me...I let them get on with it. Those that acted immature never really became apart of the congregation.
But even saying judging the WTS...yeah! they have made mistakes...but so do other religions. I eventually reads Raymond Franz's book a few days ago....and if anything it sounded to me the views of a bitter old man....His words to me seemed immature. He descibed a few faults with the WTS, which is no more than saying to someone....you only scored 98% percent in an exam...so let me concentrate on the 2% percent you did wrong. For me...it is a reason for staying a JW if he can only produce so much little 'dirt' from the top.

Remember the Panorama programme on JWs a few years ago? Question
by evergreen inyes, many will remember the panorama programme shown on channel 4 (uk) a few years ago.
the one that highlighted the child abuse scandal and the disgusting manner in which the borg deals with it.
then when the letter was read out to the congregations a week or so later addressing this issue by dismissing the programme by simply saying that two witnesses were needed before a person could make an accusation.

Are you aware that the truth is that the elders were never told of sexual abuse by Paul Berry at this time by the mother, Sara Poisson. How do we know this to be the truth. Note the testimony of the mother herself in the sentencing phase of Paul Berry.
Sara Poisson testified:
"A social worker visited me and informed me that I needed to have Paul removed from the home by 5 o'clock that day, or that she would take my children away from me. Before me now was the decision--the very real decision--to choose God, as I perceived him to be at that time, or to choose my children. And I chose mychildren. This decision resulted in years of extreme poverty. The entire congregation turned their back on us."
Then notice what happened much later after her daughter had grown to maturity. Sara Poisson continues her testimony:
"I did not hear from Holly for 18 months. She called one day from Indianaand sa1d she wanted to come home. I sent her a bus ticket and picked her up in (Ascutney), Vermont. She was thin, she was sick, and she had parasites. When she dismounted from that bus, she asked me, "Why did you let that happen?" And I said, "Why did I let what happen?" And this was the first time that I heard about the sexual abuse that had happened to her.""
According to Sara Poisson's on testimony at the sentencing of Paul Berry, she found out about the sexual abuse for the first time at a much later date than her conversation with the elders. No, she could not have possibly told the elders about any sexual abuse by Paul Berry. -
