Do You Still ............ ?
by Outaservice insince i left the jw's i never wear a neck tie!
i probably have 75 to a 100 of them, but they don't seem to wear them in any churches, do not wear them to weddings and funerals, or even to exclusive restaurants.
i'm certainly never going back to the kingdom hall!.

There were times when I was counseled on the way that I dressed. My ties were too thin and my jacket lapels were thin also. I used to just sit there and wonder just what it was that I did that I was in trouble for. I mean... I was going to the meetings and I was participating, and yet, they still had to find something to gripe about.
I still wear my "thin" ties from time to time. Whenever I have a formal event or a business meeting to attend, I wear a nice tie and shirt. -

Being a chef in fine dining, I get to meet a lot of famous people. I've personally cooked for Gene Simmons of KISS (very nice guy and has a ton of stories and jokes to share), John Travolta (yes, he really is weird), Sylvester Stallone (real nice guy, very down to earth), and the Ferrari family (which I wish that they paid me with one of their fine cars!).
I went to high school with the famous wrestler and actor "The Rock". We both played high school football together and he dated my sister for awhile. -

Anyone in GA willing to help expose a pedophile?
by DebraDoll inafter spending 2.5 hrs on the phone with a lifelong friend whom i had not been in touch with for several years, she revealed to me that she too had been molested in the 70's by my uncle; s.m., a well known elder at the time.
he began his career in sexual deviance while living on staten island ny in the early 60's.
he moved to plymouth nc in the early 70's while married to my young aunt linda.

I agree with the previous two comments... you need to contact "Silent Lambs" (www.silentlambs.org)like as of last week!! I am very sorry to hear about your tribulations and for the other victims. Amazing how he feels that he is one of the annointed. So when did Jesus start offering positions along his side in heaven to child molesters?! It boggles the very mind as to how anyone is believing his crap.
Please keep us posted as to what develops!! -

Purp... I say go for it!! Go and take a few classes. Self improvement is always a good thing! Being raised as a JW the thought of going to college was not even supposed to enter our minds. I am graduating or commencing with my class on Jan. 20th of this year. I am getting my degree in Culinary Arts from Le Cordon Bleu. I am so thankful for this honor and I cannot even begin to tell you what this experience has done for me.
My JW mother is coming into town for the event. She even tells me that she is proud of what I've accomplished (Actually, I think that she is really interested in the gourmet meal that I am about to prepare). I wish you the very best in your endevours! You won't be sorry for the steps that you are about to take. -

Apostates do you still read Watchtower literature? And if so Why do you?
by booker-t ini was just wondering how many ex-jws still read wt literature and if so why.
i have noticed alot of posters here know what the lastest wt or awake magazines are talking about and i was just wondering why do you bother to read that stuff since you left the wt?

My mother-in-law my drop off the lastest copies of the Watchtower and Awake magazines, but they usually sit on the end table for a few days and then they usually find their way into the garbage. My mother my get a wild idea and send the magazines by mail to me... but they usually end up in the same place.

Do you still call it "the truth"?
by True North indo you find youself still calling it "the truth" even though you are an ex-jw?
for instance, in one posting i just read, the poster wrote "when i was in the truth..." .
not a big deal, perhaps, but really not such a good thing either as it's a habitual holdover from the program of mental conditioning we were subject to.

I've caught myself calling it "The Truth" from time to time. I am still trying to break myself of this habit.

I have to admit... I am thrilled to not be the topic of conversation in some of the gossip at the Kingdom Hall! I REALLY don't miss that!! Witnesses love to gossip about anything and everything!
