Law of Attraction

just wondering if it is okay to practice the law of attraction as per the book "the secret".

if you are committed to jehovah, would the law of attraction simply be something to improve your life but at the same time staying grounded with god.. is this to be avoided by brothers and sisters or is it okay if you do practice it knowing that jehovah did create the laws of the universe.

i can't find anything in any past watchtower or awake articles.

I've seen the movie or video "The Secret". I have to say that this is something that the Society will surely have an issue with anyone from the congregations to view or read. You can take away whatever you want from reading or viewing that information, but the one thing that you have to feel is freedom. No longer feeling the repression that the WTBS wants to keep you under is nothing short of pure freedom. Freedom of the mind to live to your true potential or to just feel good about yourself and your accomplishments are more than worth it.

I'll say this much, after looking at that video, I let go even more of my "witness indoctrinations" that were instilled in my since I was a toddler. God is a happy God... and he wants his people to be a happy people. Walking around with self confidence and pride is not something that the witnesses encourage.

His apologies should have been between him, his wife, and his family. I used to cook for Tiger and many other pro golfers... I have to tell ya... none of them are faithful to their wives!! So this is nothing new.

I'm going to visit the family and need some help

i've only posted here a few times but have read here for years.

let me just say that you have all helped me feel so much better about myself.

it is nice to know that there are others that have gone and are going thru the same things as i. anyway, i was raised a jw but have been successfully "faded" for about 10 years except for one area.

I can surely feel your pain. I went back home to visit my family a few months ago and let me tell you... they eat, drink, sleep, and breathe the organization. My mother is a full time Pioneer and I stayed at her house while I was visiting. Saturday bookstudy was held at my mother's home, and when I returned to my mother's home that morning after being out all night... she had introduced me to all of her friends. Here I am, both ears pierced, dreadlocks, and a carefree attitude. You should have seen the looks and stares that I was given. I loved it. My cousin tried to give me a serious preaching to, but I told him that I'm not trying to hear any of that. I was respectful. I think that is the real key. You have to be as respectful as you can. Yes, they are going to say things to you that are going to aggravate the crap out of you, but remember the purpose for your visit. Eventually, you'll be heading back home.

You can only love them.

I was told off twice for what I wore to Bethel....so the Hell with them!

the first time i went to australia bethel during a holiday, we pioneer boys put on our best "going out" clothes, no ties just very smart, well groomed and neat.

the sister we stayed with said: "oh no you can't wear those clothes, you have to dress in meeting clothes!

" so we did, realizing we had shamed ourselves and our god.

Amazing! I've read the first post for this thread and I just thought back on what my closet looked like before I stopped going to the meetings. You would have thought that you were looking at the closet of a 56 year old conservative! No offense to 56 year old conservatives. I was only 18-20 years old at the time. There must have been some unwritten rule that whenever your are out attending a "witness function", you should be in your meetings clothes.

i walked away from the jw religion nearly 9 years ago after "waking up" to the lies & mind games.

since then i've learned the full extent of the manipulation (thanks to websites such as this & the coc book)and have successfully overcome the emotional & spiritual crisis that i experienced the first few years after my departure.

i can say that i am at a place in my life now where i am happy, spiritually fulfilled and religion-free!

Congratulations on your new found freedom Maryjane! I agree with the previous posts... the elders will never let any of the members hear that letter, nor will it be even mentioned. This is what they do! They control information as you well know. Anything that is not flowing in their favor, they are going to say that apostates got to you, or who know whatelse. Keeping a blind fold over the eyes of everyone is what they are best at.

JWs ATTACKED by PIT BULLS while Out in Service - Orlando News

i saw this story on the orlando/central florida tv news over the weekend, and further below is their very brief, and barely-informational print article.

the print article does not mention jws, but the tv news loudly and clearly said several times "jehovah's witnesses going door to door" were attacked by the pit bulls.

it was two "sisters.

What generation witness are you?

i'm a 4th generation witness.

however, i have jw cousins with grown grandchildren (that makes 6 generations), and two of them are married--all in the "truth.

" if they have kids, they will be 7th generation.

Did you have to dress up for meeting?

i remember having to dress up for every meeting even the ones during the week.

i had to wear a botton down shirt dress pants, a tie, dress shoes, dress socks and a blazer.

this was also required by my parents to dress up when going door to door.

I too had to wear nice dress pants, button down shirt, and a tie. It was like a uniform. Wearing jeans and any other shirt other than a button down shirt was considered a faux pas.

The truly sad thing is, I remember that issue of the Watchtower magazine. I've never thought about it as the WTBS celebrating a b-day. Amazing at how deep the brain washing really goes.
