I'm tired of putting on a happy face for all the drones. I'm sure everyone that's been a part of the borganization can relate to this. I had what would have been a great weekend were i still oblivious to the truth about the truth. Hung out with some dub friends, went out in service with my closest friend from our congregation, had a nice dinner with some other dub friends. It was still an enjoyable weekend, i just felt so... fake, out of place. It's so hard to keep up appearances sometimes... i wanted to tell all of them how we've been duped, show them scriptures that disprove so much of the crap that we've been taught... it saddens me so much. I wish i could save them all from the life of mediocrity & carrot-chasing. I feel so freaking lost sometimes.
I really don't know if i'll ever be able to make a break from the WTS, i just can't realistically see that happening any time soon. I suppose time will tell. Maybe the WT will crumble before i have to make that decision. :-/
I may be physically in, but at least my mind is free. How many people even think freely in this organization? I'm thankful i can.
Just needed to vent for a bit. I feel i'm actually coping pretty well. I'm just up late thinking & it all came crashing down on me.
How do those of you still in cope with day-to-day life? How hard do you try to make others think everything is just peachy?
By the way, how was everyone's weekend? Hope you all had a great one. :-)

just curious about Hebrew verb tense in Isaiah...
by lost_sheep ini was comparing the nwt & the niv the other day & noticed there's a discrepancy at isaiah 48:18 & 19... the niv reads: .
18 if only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
19 your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be cut off nor destroyed from before me.

I really appreciate all your work, guys. It's been a great help in understanding this. I have a lot of reading to do to catch up with you all. I'll be there one day though. ;-)
Haven't been able to get on the forum the past few days, i just wanted to pop into this thread to thank you.

looking for letter to Circuit Overseers about blood
by lost_sheep ini was looking at ajwrb's timeline of the history of the blood doctrine, & noticed this : 2000 - in the spring, circuit overseers in the united states receive a letter instructing them to inform local bodies of elders not to disfellowship anyone who accepts blood transfusions.
if their conduct becomes known and they are deemed unrepentant, they will be considered to have disassociated themselves.
does anyone have a scan of this letter?

Glad to see some interest on this topic... it really intrigued me. I've slowly been getting my arsenal of info together so i'll be prepared if DA-day ever comes. Thanks to everyone who was there & confirmed this... thanks especially to Marvin... i hadn't noticed that scan on AJWRB.

Jesus as a Mediator
by I-follow-the-narrow-path ini know that jesus is a mediator... it is written in the bible.
i have never heard the jws tell me that he wasn't.
it is written in my bible (in the jw bible), so if they do deny that jesus is a mediator-- .

This is a great question Elizabeth... one i asked a few threads back too....
That thread might give you more insight into what the Witnesses teach. I'll venture to say that the vast majority of JWs do not know this is written doctrine. I am still having trouble getting my mind around it.... it just doesn't jive with the Bible.
Sometimes a simple answer is the best, & i think AuldSoul pretty much nailed this one. He should win a cookie, at the very least. :-P -

Does anyone have a scan of this letter? I would love to see this! I thought it was interesting that it said if their conduct becomes known. More evidence that the WTS is more concerned about appearances than truth.
Thanks,

I was comparing the NWT & the NIV the other day & noticed there's a discrepancy at Isaiah 48:18 & 19... the NIV reads:

19 Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be cut off nor destroyed from before me."I don't have my NWT handy, but from memory, it's something like "If only you would pay attention to my commands, your peace would be like a river...... your descendants would be like grains of sand..." I'm just wondering what the original verb tense is in Hebrew, & which version renders it more correctly. I checked several other translations at www.biblegateway.com & all i checked agree with the NIV rendering. Also, can anyone recommend a good interlinear version of the Old Testament? I've really taken an interest in the original languages of the Bible lately.
Thanks to all you brains who have any insight on this! May your seed multiply to time indefinite! :-D

The Seven Thunders of Millennial Dawn!
by Atlantis indr. shadduck 1928 edition.
i retyped out a couple of pages that were weak, however, if you still need a page or section retyped, then just send me a pm.
any copyrights on this booklet would have been discontinued many years ago.

Wow! Good stuff, Atlantis! Thanks so much. I love to see what the Bible Students' contemporaries thought about them.
I've taken all these images, renamed them nice & neat, & zipped them up. For anyone who wants to download them, they're hosted at ez-files. It's a little under 9 megs. I try to archive most everything i get from this board, so eventually i hope to have a handy zip file of old literature scans & interesting pictures. When i get it all together i'll post it. There's a lot of old threads to look through...Thanks,

What songs got you through good or tough times?
by jojochan ini've been in an upbeat mood lately.
i don't know if it's all the exercise that i'm doing or what but i've not been moody all 3 weeks.one thing that i've noticed, is that i've listened to certain songs that made me forget about "her" and move on with bigger and better things.
when i was depressed i listened to some songs from tool, some from the cure, barbra manning, the old babyface songs, some from sade, sweetback, and maxwell and everything but the girl.

Good topic, jojochan! Music is a huge part of my life... i listen to pretty much every genre. I bought Darkest Hour's latest CD the other day, & it's been a huge help in dealing with the rush of feelings you have when you find out you're surrounded by lies. It's pretty heavy thrashy metal, might not be to everyone's taste here, but for the most part the lyrics are outstanding. I got choked up listening to this song when i read the lyrics along with it. Daydreamed about leaving the org. & starting over with my wife. The words really fit my feelings. *sigh* Hope you like.
"With a Thousand Words to Say But One"
(hopefully i'll get the formatting right)
And to reflect is to regret
Throwing it all away
And apathy my one way street
It took so much from me
Separated by this divide I created through my fears
And in your tears it's hard to show
Blind eyes and tell deaf earsIf we can make it through the landslide standing
We’ll lift each other up to see the bliss on the horizon
Been looking in from the outside lately
I’ve seen who I used to be and it’s not meAnd we can keep healing
And we can keep holding onI just want to take you where our time won’t waste anymore
Through the mountains on the water we’ll stay engulfed in one another
And when I can wake up to see the sunrise in your eyes
then we’ll finally be free and I’ll know I’ve made it homeSo let's go out west and bask in the overcast
And walking through the rain we’ll see the beauty in life againlife again
And to reflect is to regret
Throwing it all away
And apathy my one way street
It took so much from me
Separated by this divide I created through my fears
And in your tears it's hard to show
Blind eyes and tell deaf earsWe can keep healing
All alone
We can keep holding on

old light on mediating...
by lost_sheep inblow the dust off your ancient watchtower tomes & delve into the annals (or should that be anals?
) of the wts's past... i'm trying to find out if they have ever taught that christ is the mediator for all people.
recently finding out (after being raised a witness) that they teach that christ is not the mediator for everyone was disturbing to say the least.

Kudra, i've always thought as you do. The Bible seems pretty plain on this. Here's a quote from 'Worldwide Security Under the "Prince of Peace"' (1986), "Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members."
Congrats on your junior membership! I'll be there one day. :-P

Blow the dust off your ancient Watchtower tomes & delve into the annals (or should that be anals?) of the WTS's past... I'm trying to find out if they have ever taught that Christ is the mediator for all people. Recently finding out (after being raised a Witness) that they teach that Christ is not the mediator for everyone was disturbing to say the least. Just wondering if this is yet another teaching that has changed.
I can't understand how one can get around these scriptures:
Galatians 3:20 - A mediator, however, does not represent just one party; but God is one.
1 Timothy 2:5 - For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ JesusThanks!
