Memorial Attendance 2008
by oneairhead inthe memorial attendance was announced for 2008 by the do at thisweekends ca but i did not catch it as i was texting another fader who was there.
one thing that i did note was that there was no comment of it being more than last year or a peak attendance.
i would like to know what last year was as compared to this year.. i know the attendance was less in our area than last year.. one .

Real Good News
by superman inthis must be a sign of what will lie ahead for the j-dubs (at least in the united states).
this last weekend at the special day circuit assembly i went to, not a single person got baptized (zero, zip, nada) and the funny part was that they still had to give the baptism talk because it was already in the program schedule.
hopefully people are starting to catch on and we'll have a few more "zero baptism" assemblies.

Public Talk & Bookstudy Changes - the real reason
by bud2114 ini havn't been able to keep up with all the discussion in this forum as to why the gb has suddenly decided to implement these changes and perhaps someone has mentioned this already, but to me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.
it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.
i have been involved in the organzation for 40 yrs and i have never seen the level of apathy and disillusionment among those serving in some capacity in this organization.

I agree 100% with this post. Just this past weekend at the CA an elder made a comment about how the elders in his hall are dwindling. He is the youngest at 65 years of age. Also, my reliable sources are saying the same thing as all the comments above. Over the last 3-4 years one of the big requests from the platform at all meetings including CA's, DA's and congos is brothers reach out.
I burned out 3 years ago and I wasn't an MS or Elder at the time. Just trying to keep up with all of the requirements for the R&F is huge.

Hate the "light gets brighter" scripture!

and i hate that it is because of religion that i actually hate a scripture.. if you just read it you can see that it has nothing to do with religious enlightenment.. it has to do with a righteous persons way or path through life being better that one who is unrighteous.. just read it, dubs, lurkers, etc!!!!.

It was interesting how they read the accounts report at this particular CA this weekend. Let me explain:
Cash on Hand in the Circuit accounts $8,000+-
Brothers, we would like to annouce that we had a surplus from the last CA of $1,000+-.
To date at this assembly we have collected receipts in the amount of $6,000+-.
Total cost of this convention $14,000+-.
Which gives us a deficit of $6,600+-.
We are confident that you brothers will take care of this.
Can you read into this?
There was not a defecit! Anybody with 4th grade math skills could figure that out.
These folks were just fleeced right in front of their eyes.
These are just numbers that I could remember.

I guess I should have clarified that this particular CO was speaking of the US only. I think he said something like 2.25 million but I would like an accurate number.
