Thanks for holding the door.... *** SMACK ***
by Elsewhere inyesterday something happened that really pissed me off.
i was walking out of a store that has two doors you have to walk through... the inner door and the outer door.
basically a small foyer.. as i'm going through the inner door i notice a woman is behind be so i go on through and hold the door for her... she went right on through without a word and then went through the outer door, pushed it open and then let it fly back into my face.

***He said that the men ALL moved out of the way to let him continue walking in a straight line, but the women DID NOT BUDGE until the last minute,***
On the other hand, I have learned from years of experience to avoid grocery shopping the day before Superbowl Sunday. When I shopped that day, the market was filled with men gathering their snacks for the game, and I must say they are the rudest shoppers I've ever seen. They block the aisles; they nudge in front of others at the deli, and if I and a guy are heading for the checkout at the same time, I've seen the guy run, yes RUN, to cut in front of me. -

have you received a blood transfusion?
for me yes, about 5 years ago i had to have an emergency operation i lost a lot of blood, and received blood, since it was an emergency i did have to make a choice, but i know if they asked me i would say yes, i probably wouldn't be here today if it was up to my family.

Not yet (knock on wood).
Wow, Rocky. Glad you're still here to tell the tale. I think back on my childhood and realize now how extremely lucky I and my siblings were that we were healthy and avoided serious accidents. I'm not sure how I would cope with the knowledge now if any of my sibs had died because of the blood doctrine. -

Many JWs are undoubtedly stupid, just as there are many stupid people in the general population, but to make a blanket statement that JWs are stupid is incorrect. It's more accurate to say that they are deluded and indoctrinated, which can happen to anyone, even very smart people. The presence of many extraordinary minds on this forum demonstrates that.

has humanity the intelligence to transcend love?
by the dreamer dreaming ini suspect it is fairly rare for two people to fall "in love" with each other at the same time... it seems to me
that many males will fall in love with just about any female that vaguely says anything approaching yes to their advances
and that they are not nearly as descriminating as females as to who they will have sex with... i could be wrong of course ...

Non-JW asks: Why do JWs allow drinking? But forbid Birthdays?
by whyizit inmy jw friend recently condemned birthdays using two scriptures that spoke of evil men killing people on their birthdays.
seems to me that the men were evil, not the birthdays.
today is my birthday.

***Why hasn't the WTS nipped the drinking in the bud?***
Because alcohol is the only thing that gets them through their miserable WTS-controlled day. -

Judge Judy can get overly strident, but for the most part the people she berates richly deserve it.

Thoughts...
by RichieRich inall to often, my mind drifts to my mixed feelings for my mother.
the deep love that burned in my heart for the woman who had given me life.. the suicidal remorse i felt for bringing such guilt and reproach on her good name.. the blinding anger i felt for her never questioning her beliefs, but always questioning her son.. and so i'm left with a vacuous emotional chamber for a large element that is missing from my soul.. and when you've lost your most valuable possesion, everything else is gravy on an empty plate - pointless.. and so i hurt too, and i love my mom, but does she love me?
the unanswered question haunts my mind.. we recieve, we give, and sometimes, we just plain screw up.

Like you, my one huge regret in leaving the JW cult is the pain it caused my mother. She can't (won't?) understand that staying would have killed me. -

No. I object to beauty pageants because they demean women.

Why did you choose your USER NAME?
by In Between ini think some people actually use part of their real name.
i chose mine because i really feel 'in between', in that space where your not a jw anymore but really haven't figured out where you are in life and what path you want to take.
just thought it would be an interesting topic.

I like parakeets and parrots. My parrot is snoozing on his stand next to me as I'm typing. They make wonderful pets if you don't mind feathers, seed hulls, and droppings all over the house. And if you don't mind ear-splitting screeches and deep, painful bites from time to time. And if you don't mind their finicky eating habits--they make cats look like indiscriminate gluttons. If none of the above bothers you, then parrots are the pet for you!
