Welcome.

Living your life the way you choose doesn't mean you have to go off the deep end and choose drugs or get into dangerous situations. It is wonderful that you have spent your time caring for people. Many people have chosen jobs in the field of health care, fireman, police, etc. that are of service to others.

It sounds like you have definite goals associated with starting a new business. That, coupled with moving to your own place, should keep you very busy.

In time, perhaps your mom will see that you are pursuing worthwhile goals. Since you are the youngest, and the only baptised one of her children, she feels very protective of you-and yes, in a JW way. Hopefully she will feel more at ease soon as she sees that you are making wise decisions and advancing in your new business.

Feeling a bit alienated

i notice mostly everyone at jwn was a "born-in".

i actually chose to become a witness.

i was born and raised jewish but by the time i was 15 i had lost interest in judaism and stopped practicing it.

Oh, I believed it, hook, line and sinker.

I was 21, and a young woman from work began to talk to me, and my husband and I studied and were baptised in 1973. I was "in" for more than thirty years...I definitely believed. I did, however, have some trouble when they changed the generation teaching in 1995. But it was actually the df'ing of my teen daughter and the horrible treatment meted out to her by the "loving shepherds" of the congregation that got my husband and I out, then I started reading about JWs on the internet and found this site.

I too was devastated when I found out so many things about the history of the Watchtower. I so wanted it all to be true. I went through a long period of feeling alienated...not fitting in anywhere. After time, I have begun to adjust. I am in the human race-for better or worse. I somehow bought into the crap that JWs were different and better than everyone else. Turns out they just hide things more effectively than most.

Give yourself some time. You have been disconnected from the collective. It is hard to function and get your bearings as an individual for awhile.

Car Full of JW's while I'm at the Car Wash............

i'm sort of angry right now.. no, not angry..... i'm shaky.

at least, when i lift my cup of coffee to my lips, sitting here at starbucks, my hand is trembly.. i hate that!.

the power they have to still reach me on some hidden point that hides in the corners of my very being.... .

First of all, it wouldn't have mattered what you said after saying you were df'd. That automatically negates anything you say in their minds.

At least they can't say you were nasty to them. You kept your cool.

It seems like they were trying to "keep their cool" also...going to places where they wouldn't have to get out of the car. No fair-they should be suffering for the Kingdom's sake.

I remember getting dressed up to go in FS when it was sooooo hot I felt like I was melting.....I'm also in Texas.

You got the better end of the deal. They had to spend gas money and find victims...you got to wash your car and go home in peace.

Update on my Uncle.

it is so difficult to watch someone you love die slowly.

my uncle has terminal prostate cancer - that is how it started and developed from there to invade the bladder, urinary tract, urethra.

the doctors could not operate on him as he would more than likely die on the operating table.. he chose to fight.

I'm new here..... Studying with the Witnesses

hi- i just wanted to say that i have been checking the website out for a few weeks and have read some horror stories and some sad ones.

but i have been studying with witnessess for about six months and can't help but feel that they're completely sincere and maybe even, the true religion.

i love the watchtower and awake and to me, none of that seems crazy.

I don't pretend to know all the answers about demons. Suffice it to say that JWs are not the only ones who believe in them. The Catholic Church still performs exorcisms!

Please take the time to do research on the history of Jehovah's Witnesses. I wish I had done this. I was "in" for over thirty years...I wish I could have them all back now.

Did you know that at one time they taught that vaccinations were like "taking pus into the body?" Or that for awhile they taught that organ transplants were cannibalistic? They changed that doctrine, but not before some died refusing a transplant. Nor do they appologize when they change the doctrine after receiving "new light" on the subject.

Also, their founder, Charles Taze Russell, was into pyramidology..in fact, that is where he arrived at the date 1914. Look up his name on the internet and you will see that he is buried inside a pyramid shaped tomb!

Unfortunately, probably the ones studying with you don't know this information. If you encourage them to look into it, they most likely WILL NOT even though it is the history of their own organization! They will feel that questioning is apostate, and could get them into trouble; they are right about that.If you ask these questions, you will also begin to see another side of the ones studying with you. They will likely warn you to stop questioning. The "love bombing" will surely be strained.

Right now you are in a unique situation. You can ask questions. After baptism, you cannot.

I remember my hands shaking when I made my first post here, but it felt good to express what was inside me. In the KHall, we know that cannot be done without impunity.

Why not give yourself time to do more research on JWs and their history.

Maybe just ask hubbie if you could all take a family trip somewhere and just be together without pressure to make any decisions about the Witnesses. There will be time.

Also, if you talk to hubbie, don't bombard him with information that you find. Ask him respectful questions about your doubts as the head of the house, and ask him to get back with you. Please don't let the WTS take your marriage and family from you.

In the end, only you can decide your future. If you go to the KHall to keep peace, that is up to you. So glad that your child is going to college. So sad that the WTS views it as disobedience.

Hi Some of my story

fast forward 10 years for some reason i met a witness and went back.

i was feeling low and started studying with a lovely elderly brother and was baptised.

two years later i met and married a lady witness was married for 7 years and during this time once again saw lots of hypocrisy and then the child molesters issue.

Long Call With Elder: Doesn't Know About "Generations/Overlapping"

i had a call with a good buddy......still an elder the other night.. when i mentioned generations/overlapping.......he had no clue what i was talking about.

such a good man.......... but it doesn't matter.....they don't even realize what is being said to them; what is being done to them.

a high stature elder in their organization....and he had no clue there was another change..... how the hell does this happen?.

Just had to add that this overlapping generations thing is the most laughable, idiotic one yet.

Suppose a person was born in 1898, was "annointed," then a person was born in 1990 (since now there is no cut-off year) and became annointed just last week. They overlap if the one born in 1898 lived to be in his/her 90s, yet the one born in 1990 could be alive till 2080-yet they are one generation?

The thing is, they don't want change.They don't want to rock their boat of understanding so they just float along with what they learned from years before.

They are always crowing about how progressive their understanding is...about how Christendom still believes the same things but the WTS is keeping up with the chariot constantly moving.

Individually, however, the rank and file pays no attention, obviously. Or, they say innane things like, "Oh, I knew they'd change this. Now it is up to date, makes more sense, etc."

I remember when the 1995 change came-that the generation was the "contemporaries that don't believe" crap. I didn't understand it. I read the paragraphs in the WT several times. At the meeting where it was "parroted" in the WT study, I looked around at the people. No one batted an eye. It was like something from Orwell's 1984. Just the most important doctrine in JW land changed, and no one acted like it held any consequence. Business as usual. Inside I knew something was wrong, but held to the principle that "we must rely on Jehovah," and that I was the spiritually weak one, and especially the "Well, we are like the Israelites. We don't have to understand, just obey."

Wish I'd headed for the door at that time.

just wanted to say hi and thanks to everyone that has posted their stories and comments.

i was df'ed a few months ago now and reading this forum has helped out heaps.

based on that i wanted to contribute in the hope that my experiences resonate with someone and help with the healing proccess the way it's helped me.
