  So glad that you were able to connect with your friend. Does she have any contact with her family now? What a horrible thing shunning is-to think that some parents turn their backs completely on their children.

  Unemployment is down, but why did America set a record 47.8 million on food stamps?

  in the usa a new record was set on food stamp enrollments, which seems ironic.

  you would think as unemployment drops , food stamp usage would be dropping, too.

  maybe those government unemployment numbers are fake numbers.

  I work at an elementary school. I've seen all kinds of kids on a free breakfast and lunch program get picked up in the afternoon by a mom with a big late model car or SUV, with an expensive iphone, hair and nails done, etc. so I don't get it, either.

  Oops, I don't usually post new topics...

  Yes, my daughter, now 25, has been df'd since she was 16. Her best friend from the time she was a baby shunned her. However, she sent my daughter a beautiful handmade card recently, asking her to get in contact. When they talked, the friend said she'd had doubts for years, but had now acted on them, leaving the JWs. What great news-now this beautiful young woman is going through nursing school. My daughter was so excited, and wants to visit her soon (we now live in a different state).

  I would never have imagined this happening. I think they are losing soooo many young people who refuse to buy into the "no education" life leads to nowhere teaching.

  you know, the type that looked like a model witness but at home you were not the best example o your family?.

  or maybe you accepted from the faithful slave that oral sex was bad, but you did it secretly---same with masturbation.. or perhaps you put in some wonderful hours and placements on that report slip, knowing you might have exaggerated just a bit.. so, were you one who practiced what you preached?.

  I was a nervous wreck always cleaning the house, car, book bag, studying, etc. When it was our book study's turn to clean the KHall or mow the lawn, our family was always there.

  I just gag now to think how gung-ho we were.

  Then, when my teen daughter did a couple of normal teen things, five self-righteous men took it upon themselves to humiliate and berate her, df'ing her, then removing my hubbie as elder because he "should have done more" and announcing it as "good news for the congregation" along with appointments for auxilliary pioneers for the month.

  We sat and took it for a few months, then decided we'd had enough. My wonderful daughter, to her credit, went on to graduate with highest honors from college with a degree in Biology.

  This organization will one day fade into oblivion becaue they take the brightest and the best and treat them like crap while they wink at the behavior of the "good old boys" and pedophiles.

  My home stunk for an hour. I'm not a fan

  I don't get the attraction, either.

  They stink, they are expensive, and health-wise, well, not healthy. They also look like a turd stuck in someone's mouth. They remind me of old men.

  Why not spend the money on something the family can enjoy together?

  Yes, that is the very good news. As Black Sheep mentioned, tread softly with the family for awhile. Listen carefully, and see where the weaknesses and questions are in their statements. After having been "out" now for several years, it is amazing to me how they swallow the "overlapping generation new light" and the Governing Body being the FDS. Of course, I guess along with my amazement I have to admit that I swallowed, chewed and enjoyed the taste of their drivel for over thirty years....

  i am visiting this site for quite some time now and now i think it is time to tell something about me and my experience.

  without giving away my name (i am in "fade mode"): i am from the small country they call the netherlands, the land of wooden shoes, tulips, cheese and too many inhabitants per square meter.
