  I really need some help to get out of this religion

  hi, i've been lurking on this site for quite a while after recently having doubts about the "truth".

  i've read a lot of posts about problems with the doctrines, mind control, the beliefs, brainwashing that jehovah's witnesses and their literature, as well as their history.

  now only being a sixteen year old born in who isn't baptized or unbaptized, i've come to find all this information incredibly overwhelming.

  Hello and welcome to the forum.

  You seem to have a good working plan in place, and have discovered the most wonderful thing of all-you have your own mind and can use it quite well to think for yourself. I agree with all the great advice given thus far:

  Stay with your folks as they love you and are truly trying to do the best they know how.

  Baptism is supposed to be a personal decision. YOU must be the one to decide this, and if your decision is not to become baptised, don't let anyone try to pressure you into something that could have life-long repercussions.

  An education is the finest gift and goal to have-right now, make it your aim to study hard and be prepared for college. Perhaps you could get a scholarship if your grades are in the top percentage.

  hello, first let me apologixe for both my spelling and my grammer in advance, both are not my strong points.. i'll keep this short.

  since i've been a child my mother has studied on and off with jw's ( i'm now 34) so i've been around it most of my life, i studied on and off myself for around 10 years.

  thank's to this site and jwfacts i'll never study or step foot inside a kingdom hall again.

  No, not harsh. You didn't bash the Witnesses-just firmly stated that you didn't want to be associated with them anymore. Of course, I'm sure you've got his curiosity up now, so he may send you a message back asking why.

  You said your mom studied with the Witnesses but did not say she was ever baptised. If she wasn't, she may not shun you. Hope not, anyway.

  Welcome to the forum.

  So glad you are all out as a family, and so sorry to hear about your mother's attitude, but that's to be expected-she sounds like a sincere JW, and must shun you to be accepted in JW land.

  I was not born in but came in as a twenty year old. I was "in" for over thirty years; my husband was an elder for twenty. My daughter, husband and I are all out together. If only I could get my thirty years back......

  At least now we are free to choose.

  My mother passed away this morning...

  for any old-school ex-jws here that remember my many posts about my abusive jw mother and my sister committing suicide because of it...she passed away this morning because she began to bleed out and refused a transfusion.

  she had been in the hospital for a month.

  it appears she suffered a stroke and wasn't found by the brothers & sisters for three days (they missed her at the meetings).

  I have gone back and read your heartbreaking posts about your sister, mother, and your niece. It is truly amazing the mental hold that the WTS can exert over people. I know I believed heart and soul whatever their pronouncements were for over thirty years. Obviously your mother did and hardened her heart to anything else.

  I hope that you are now close with your niece, and am so glad that you have children. I know you'be been through some extremely depressing times, but hope that with your loved ones you are able to look forward now, and find the happiness you deserve.

  Former Long Time Elder: Why I am still in

  a customer on my route with whom i have had some lively debates was his number 1 complaint is that "the witnesses have so many rules".

  last month i agreed with on this issue.

  he asked why the change, i told him that i have been doing some soul searching.

  But what about what your son wants? Does he want to play sports? Be involved in some other activity? Go to college? What are his true interests?

  Have you sat down with him and just had a talk where he was allowed to speak his mind? You might be surprised at his goals or lack of goals.

  If a child thinks that Armageddon is coming soooooon, they may be depressed and lack a sense of future for themselves. Many on this forum stated that they got married young so as to experience a mate before the big A. This is not healthy, either.

  Having an open talk with him will help you know how to proceed.

  I do heartily agree with the others. If he becomes some hard core JW, and after your "soulsearching" you decide to leave the organization, it could come back to bite you-he might end up shunning you completely.

  so i have a friend in a congregation in new jersey who recently called me to tell me that he got a divorce.

  nothing surprising there at first but it is the fact of when it happened.

  his wife began pioneering april 1, and after about three weeks she came to him and told him that about 4 years she had engaged in loose conduct (fondling the penis and the guy kissing her breasts) during a time that she was inactive.

  If he is so easily swayed by the elders and is willing to end his marriage over this he doesn't deserve her. She was trying to be honest with her husband and instead gets set upon by a pack of dogs.

  I remember a thread some time ago discussing pedophiles that in the elders manual in states that if an elder had sexually abused a child but had not confessed, but had gone on to be "exemplary" or some such term, that he need'nt be disfellowshipped.

  Yep, good ole boys network....

  I hope she leaves this jerk and joins us on the forum.

  Update on my Dad after week long elders school.....

  just spoke to my mum and she said dad is exhausted after the elders school although he did enjoy it.. so he gets a call to attend an elders meeting in his cong.. .

  he has told them he's not attending as he has other plans.

  he is taking my mum out for the day instead..

  Hey TotallyADD-I was living in Florida in 1990 and went to the Plant City Ass. Hall. My husband also went to elder's school there. I lived in a place called Deltona-ever heard of it?
