Comment on "The View" today
by Mulan ini had the view on tv while i was cleaning this morning, and the women started talking about pat robertson's prediction for 2007. the guest co host, sherri shepherd, said "i used to be in the religion that rang your doorbells on the weekends and sold pamplets, but they predicted the world would end in 1995 (i'm sure she meant 1975) and that didn't happen either.
" .
for those not in the u.s., the view is a daily morning tv talk show for women..

I am wondering. Did they say how Pat Robertson gets his information? I wonder if he considers himself the FDS that gets heavenly insights?

You are a strong person. I am sure that I would have started crying and when the woman asked if I was a Witness I would have said, No, I am the recipient of the Witness brand of Christian love and honoring their mother.
The girls are well trained. I feel bad for them, because one day it may be too late to be sorry.

Sooooo sorry!!!! Bad things do happen to good people!!! Chin up. I know your kids understand. The good thing is you and your children are unharmed. Everything else can be replaced. Give them an extra hug, and keep them close.
Mom is just upset and the first thing that came to mind is her fear that you are not under "Jehovah's protective wings." This was just her first reaction. Of course, she probably locks her door when she leaves the house, knowing that this could happen to her, also.
It is sad that there are people out there who would take what we have with no qualms. Sigh........

Thanks for your post.
I was wondering if perhaps they are conditioning the rank and file to be receptive to change. Mary posted this info from the Jan. 2007 WT:
Par 11: "....It seems that resurrected ones of the 24 elders group may be involved inthe communicating of divine truths today. Why is that important? Because the correct identity of the great crowd was revealed to God's anointed servants on earth in 1935. If one of the 24 elders was used to convey that important truth, he would have had to be resurrected to heaven by 1935 at the latest. That would indicate that the first resurrection began somewhere inbetween 1914 and 1935. (Ooooooh, isn't this just mind-boggling how they come up with this shit!!??)
Par 12: At this point we
obviously don't know what the f**k we're talking about so let's just say something really stoopid now, it may be helpful to consider what might be viewed asmore bullshita Bible parallel. Jesus Christ was anointed as future King in the fall of 29 CE. Three and a half years later in the spring of 33 CE he was resurrected as a mighty spirit person. Could it then be reasoned that since Jesus was enthroned in the fall of 1914, the resurrection of his faithful anointed followers began 3 1/2 years later in the spring of 1918? That is an interesting possibility. Although this cannot be directly confirmed in the bible, (like virtually ALL of their doctrines can't) it is not out of harmony with other scriptures that indicate that the first resurrection got under way soon after Christ's presence began. An interesting possibility? How in the world can they come out with this after having the teaching for years and years that 1918 was the definite, beyond question- date that the resurrection of the 144.000 began?
The thing is, they never admit that they were mistaken about anything previous they have stated as fact, or insinuated. Remember 1975? They blamed the rank and file for misleading themselves.
I think we may be in for some further clever reasoning by the WTS. First the new info in Jan., now Feb. "softens the blow" for more to come??? Perhaps people "misled themselves" about the resurrection, also.

What I Learned at the at the 2 Day Assembly...
by becca1 in1- "jehovah does not want us to be rich".
other religions teach that god helps us to become prosperous.
jehovah does not do that.

When I used to prepare to go to a Convention or Assembly, I would begin to dread the guilt trip that I knew I was going to be taken on. My family was the one who would put the $20 in the box then go home and eat leftovers or a can of soup because we knew that God did not want us to be rich, and the WTS needed the money because the Convention/Assembly was running a deficit again.
I knew that they would have a part on doing more in field service. If you were working full time could you change your circumstances. Even though my circumstances were that we barely were able to pay bills, I felt guilty. I should "put Jehovah to the test" and just pioneer.
My family did not take vacations. We did not have the money. After all, we had no college education and so worked at low paying jobs, and if we were to go out of town, the others could see that we were not out in service and that could not be done.
Well, thanks for taking me down memory lane. I am stressed out just picturing the ones on the platform and feeling the tightness in my stomach.

I ran them off !
by oldflame inthe witnesses came to my complex today, this time it was two very good looking women.
i walked up to them and calmly said that this is the second warning that they were trespassing on my property and that no jehovah's witnesses are aloud on this property knocking on doors.
i have a tenant who is a jw and this is fine with me and they are aloud to come and visit her but i do not allow them to bother my tenants as they all prefer they stay away anyways.

Vinny-
Apparently my post to oldflame struck a nerve. I also do not really have a problem if oldflame does not want people to call at his apartment complex. I merely stated in this regard that he could explore the idea of allowing the tenants to choose for themselves who they would and would not want to speak to. The objection I had was that, when he was getting 'atta boys after his first post, he went on to relate how amused he was...well, you know the rest.
I went back and read your first posts and am glad to find that you are a person who truly cares about other people. You were bullied by men who should have been there for you and your family. My husband and I found ourselves in similar circumstances. He was an elder for more than twenty years, and we both demonstrated a love for God and our fellow man. It did not matter to bullies in our case, either. I would like to welcome you to the forum. I remember reading an early message to me that said "Welcome to the fray" and sometimes apparently that is what it is!! To continue at this point;
One poster made this comment:
your not telling me these 2 female wt WHORES are to stupid to check the do not call list. and read the no tresspassing signs.?
Oldflame clearly stated "There are no posted signs." Furthermore this poster applauds the actions of oldflame but in the same post calls all JW women whores knowing that I had quoted a previous post from oldflame stating that his mother is a Witness. This poor woman may have done absolutely nothing to deserve this demeaning title. I do not know what to make of that, and oldflame has as yet made no comment.
On the upside for me, perhaps because I have been on the board longer that you, this poster states that I am merely to write things "100xs" but you are to write things "1000xs." On the downside, or perhaps not, depending on how you view it, we are both "hysterical." Well, I suppose you did join this forum to have something in common with people and so now you and I do!!
As oldflame previously posted:
It was my out spokeness that got me into trouble with the JW's and my JW mother. You are exactly right about this. Jw's do not like people who speak up and tact ? yeah I guess I could learn how to use tact a little better, but I am one person who when has something to say even if it hurts I say it. That just drives a JW nuts.
I think this says it all. He is enamored of his own traits when he scares someone else or "has something to say even if it hurts" but finds this feature less than desirable when someone else does it. In other words, he can dish it out but he can't take it. It seems he is not the only one.........

How do you help your kids if they are surrounded by dubs?
by wanderlustguy ini got into it with my ex the other day about my kids and them being around their dub relatives.
they live with her and i know she needs help from her relatives, but i see it doing bad things.
one in particular is the inability to determine their own preferences, they say what they think the people they are with want them to say.

I do not think you need to worry about your kids being around their relatives. First of all, kids need to be around people who love them. This generally means relatives who provide a needed support system, no matter what their beliefs are.
You are there to help your children think for themselves. This will serve them well, if not now, later in life, when the tough decision making is needed.
You are doing all you can. If you put stress on your ex the children are ultimately the ones who are upset. Relax and enjoy your children when you see them. I work in an elementary school and see children with problems from divorce all the time. The thing children want most is two parents who love them. They do not want to be in the middle of feuding adults.

40,000 give or take.
by Blueblades inyes, the numbers remain the same year in and year out.
40,000. disfellowedshipped for immorality.
not a word about the millions who have faded or outright left the watchtower for other reasons ( exception, they cover that over with the wrongful term called apostate ) that have nothing to do with immorality.

Blueblades-
What I have consistently wondered is where in the world are all the people that were disfellowshipped over the years? There must be thousands upon thousands of former JWs out there, yet I never seem to meet up with any.
They always say that about 60,000 are df'd every year and about half that number return. There must be alot df'd for independent thinking in that group.
Maybe more haven't found out about forums like this one to make their voices heard, or perhaps thay lay low because they are still plagued by thoughts that God will destroy them at Armageddon?

Actually, I can see that we have two points to agree on.
I Never raised my voice or use profound language. You will need a dictionary for this one.
I am not a rude prick to anyone unless they really deserve it and if anyone has been rude here it is you for your assumptions and accusations against me.
Your apt (you might need a dictionary here, also) description, and I can see that you like to have the last word.
