so my mom became a jw, and there is this family down the road that has been helping/brainwashing my mom.
when my dad forbade her to go to meetings she would lock herself in the bathroom and sneak out the window and the jw family down the street would take her to meetings.
the dad/elder in this jw family had been added and removed as an elder a couple of times and no one knew why.
I have one thing to say--Eeeeuuuuuuwwww....
Why would he this man even know WHERE the bedroom was in your house? Why would he feel so free to go there?
Well, okay two things.
As usual it was kept hush hush and no one ever knew why. But he is in congregations today without restriction.
One thing Witnesses are really good at-keeping elders in that do creepy stuff and keeping it quiet and ejecting rank and file when it suits them and spreading the reasons around the congregations.
it was requested of someone on the board via pm to tell our story.
i'll try to keep it brief, for me that's hard.
mrs. flipper was raised catholic and got out when she was 12 because the nuns and cathlolic school teachers didn't like her independent thinking mind.

Thanks for your story. Am glad to know that you, Mr. Flipper, are still able to be an upbeat person after all the trials you have been through with the Witnesses.
I used to be a positive person until a couple of years ago when my teen daughter was treated horribly by a JC and df'd. My husband, a then elder, and I went through deep depression. But along the way I found this forum, and after time and being away from the KHall we are now coming out of the down state. I hope we can approach something called a state of happiness sometime relatively soon.
Anyway, glad to know more about you both. By the way, I remember the television show Flipper. Loved it.

What? I don't understand. Are you thinking that the Governing Body is not part of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society?

today i got to go to the stapleton family reunion.
we as kids didn't get to go to these reunions because, as my parents would say "bad association".
most of my family (including uncles) i haven't seen in over 20 yrs.
Wow!! So glad you got to find out about your family and had a great time. I think family reunions are wonderful. You are surrounded by people who love you-after all, you are all part of one another. It helps kids to have roots in family, and a connection with the past.
since we're all in the mood for story time here, i figured i'll tell y'all about the first congregation i ever attended: lakeview, mi.
i have changed all names in this story.
the parts of the story from before i was born i cannot confirm, since they were only related to me by people involved.. the lakeview elders are notorious for their unloving, introverted, intolerant spirit.
I would but it's a money issue for me, plus I have a full-time job making 40K a year which is alright so I don't really see a need.
Then it sounds like you are indeed moving forward!! You have alot to be proud of, then.

we had an argument because i dont agree with the shunning of any person by the whole congregation just because they don't want to be a j.w any longer.
I had been very ill and had a bone marrow transplant and he was there all through my treatment.
Then it makes it especially hard. I am sorry to hear that.
It also makes it sad because I don't see the situation changing on his part. I hope you keep your good attitude and don't let his actions get you down. You need calm and positive thoughts to stay well.

Well, who knows? It does seem that they are full of surprises.
First, Garybuss was reporting here that they are slowly getting away from the use of Watchtower and just referring to themselves as JWs.
Next, of course, the WTS is beset by the lawsuit situation. Perhaps this is the reason for selling property.
Then, the change to the 30 minute public talk.
Last year, at the convention, they were all set into a frenzy when told they needed to exchange addresses and telephone numbers.
This year, higher education is bad, bad, bad....and beware the ever-present apostates on the computer. A crackdown has been enacted about talking to df'd or dissassociated ones.
Top this all off with the new "insider's edition" of the Watchtower magazine.
It seems the heads of many are spinning around trying to cope.
Then of course, there are those that accept whatever changes are made with no thinking needed.

I don't excatly know what the rapture is. I think different people have different takes on it.
Once, when I was in field service, a person at the door told me that Jesus would take people up to Heaven by the hair of their heads. I told her I wondered what would happen to bald people. Oops, oops, too slick...just can't get a good hold......

Yes, he is following orders not to be friends with you.
What kind of person denies he's a witness and then says he is one-and now YOU are not good enough? Well, with friends like him........
