Whatever happened to kindness?
by Terry inlately i've notice how few people i'm around practice kindness.. it is, frankly, apalling to me.. i don't see any reason to be rude.
there is too much of that already.. when somebody makes a mistake i try to let it drop and not mention it or give them a dig.. why?
how hard is it to be kind?.

"I hope you can create a good day for yourself."
I really like that response...I will remember it and use it if I can.

YOUR LAST MEETING.........................
by vitty in........................at my last meeting, the elder was talking about 1975 and said "it never happened, it is appostates using a time when (some) brothers took the info in the wt wrong"...................i just blinked and finally woke up.. i had been on this site lurking for a couple of weeks, and realized thing werent right, but to have some creep say on the platform " it didnt happen"............when this ruined my and my siblings childhood, just made me snap.
on the way home, i told my hubby "that was the last meeting im going to"................boy was he pleased.. .
so if you didnt get df ......................what happened at your last meeting.?.

Don't you like to read the "experiences" of others?
I am bumping up this thread again as it is so informative, and thought others might like to add their own memories of the "last meeting."
Also, wanted to add the thought that not everyone who posted here is still around. Hope the best for those who have "moved on."

Through a Darkened Pane
by compound complex inmy frequent walks these last few years about the neighborhood so familiar to me would ordinarily be construed a pleasant enough non-event.
a little mild exercise - taken in small doses to keep the joints operating properly - and a keen eye peeled for the ever-changing face of nature have rendered the daily promenade a suitable diversion.
until recently.

Snowbird,
I love that poem by Alfred Kilmer. It was set to music...I don't know when, but I remember hearing it when I was in elementary school. It was sung during a program by the 6th grade choir. This was in the 1950's when elementary was 1-6th grades. I was enthralled by it at so young an age...I couldn't have been in more than the third grade.

I am fifty in a few weeks.
I didn't see your thread, hamsterbait....have you reached the dreaded F word yet...fifty? If so, happy birthday!!!
I am 58. I try to stretch every morning after I wake up so stiff.
Was "in" for more than thirty years. Yep, I guess I'm trying to make up for all that lost time. I am taking a nice vacation with my family to San Francisco this summer, even though I really can't afford it. But what I can't afford even more is to sit and think about all the times I never went anywhere because I wouldn't be encouraging others by doing weekend service with the group. For years we had the book study/service group in our house, and of course they met there every Saturday.
I am also in college at 58, like Loz. Due to the years of believing "every utterance" of the WTBTS I feel worthless and stupid on a regular basis, but figure if I can just do something about stupid I'll have won half the battle.
Like another poster said...at least we're out now and whatever life we have left is our own!!!

The Generation Watchtower (TOMORROW!) and The Cough of Incredulity
by slimboyfat inthe watchtower will be studied tomorrow that contains the new overlapping generations teaching.
paragraph 10 reads:.
"he evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation.".

Every time they explain the "generation" it is different, but always evident!!!!

What Super Powers does Ted Jaracz have in heaven now??? Any?
by Witness 007 inso congrats ted your a "king and preist" in heaven ruling with jesus, so.....how is this different to his bethel job?
he can"t smite me for showing disrespect.
does he sit there and take down names for armagedon?

Yes, he has many superpowers, as demonstrated here -discussing new "truths" that need to be communicated from he and his fellow heavenly buddies to the Governing Body on earth. But unfortunately, no one can hear them and they can't hear each other due to the "CONE OF SILENCE" for top secret heavenly meetings of the annointed.

"The End is Closer Than You Think" came up at a party.
by RubaDub inwe were at a party (get-together in jw speak) and somehow the ones i was talking with changed the subject to a talk given by the co that "the end is closer than we think.".
i just sheepishly asked the group ... "i don't understand that phrase, "the end is closer than we think.
" i said my parents told me i would never go to school, then later that i would never graduate from high school, and that i would never get married.. then i mentioned my parents were expecting the end to be in 1975 ... my grandparents were expecting the end numerous times in the 1920's and 1930's.. so i very nicely asked, "isn't is more correct to say "the end is farther than we think?

Next time you "get together" with the same group, start saying, "You know the end is clooooooooooooooose.....it is just around the corner...no, it's at the corner....no, it's as close as the inside of my eyelids....we are in the very last seconds of the last days and have been since 1874....."
