the sight of that creature with its arms extended reminds me of when I was at the dinner table at Bethel, watching one of the Governing Body members reach for the bowl of creamed corn.
Jeremy-thank you for your sense of humor!
i have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.
last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

so i had a patient this week that needed blood.
as i always do i give the signs of a rejection and pros and cons... she said of course i'll have one since i need it... i just don't understand people that don't!!!
and they would rather die.
Glad you can help people through your example...someday you may be in the position to help a JW who is struggling with the issue.
I had a hyterectomy a couple of years ago and it seemed strange to me to answer yes to the person who asked if I would be willing to have a transfusion if needed, but also felt comforting!
hi, this is my first post on this forum although i have been reading many posts on here.
i feel safe enough to ask your advice and become involved now......from what i have learned about this forum it is occupied by sensible people who have left the watchtower influences for one reason or another.
i am, for want of a better word, a none believer.
Hi again trailerfitter.
Hope you had a good holiday.
This gave me an idea. During meeting times, why not take your children out for some fun. Let your wife know ahead of time where you'll be going. Afterward, all will have great times to share with her. As a mother, I can tell you I'd start to get upset that all the fun was had without me. Pretty soon, she'll start wondering what is going on while she's sitting at the Kingdom Hall. She'll start to feel left out, and perhaps want to join her family.
Perhaps just ask if she can get out a bit early and join you....this will make her start thinking of something else during the meetings.
Even if it doesn't work at first, it will help you to keep the children close to you.
Do not let them take your family. Anger will not help the situation. Patience is called for.....at first, when people are studying, all the information is new and exciting. After awhile, the excitement level goes down, and the information begins to cycle...they've heard it before. It looses the newness factor.
Hang in there.
this study edition is an absolute attack on kids going to higher education, and you all are getting too cosy at home with your sky tv and the internet, get out on the doors you idle dogs.. oh and if you have a good job already you could not be putting the kingdum first !.
here is some of the crap in the mag, and the article temporary residents in a wicked world.. 10. .
in view of the imminent end of the present system of things, as jehovahs servants.
young Christians are encouraged to pursue
spiritual goals, getting only as much education
as is required to meet their basic needs
That would mean essentially just High School. After all, if one is cleaning floors, or windows, or waitressing, etc., and can struggle week to week to put food on the table, their basic needs are being met.
Of course, if one isn't physically able to do work outdoors, or all night with heavy equipment, or carry heavy loads, what then?
I knew years ago, when my daughter was very young, that she was going to be a small, delicate person who would not be able to do alot of physically demanding work. I spent my time doing housecleaning, and other low-paying jobs while struggling financially. I determined that she would have an education. My family is all out now (I was in more than thirty years) and my daughter will graduate this December from a University with a degree in Biology.
I feel for young people that are pressured not to get an education. What a waste!
just dizzyisness at first, but i knew what was coming.
my housemate took the wheel and started for the er.
she knows how alergic i am.
I feel for you. I, however, have a different reaction. I find I must fight the urge to throw rotten eggs.....
i was thinking it would be helpful if we put together a wt lexicon for those that are not too familiar with wt terminology.
it's important for them to understand these theocratic expressions so that they too can understand and speak the "pure language" of truth.
- zeph.
Theocratic language- speaking "current truth"-new words twisted daily
think about it....how simple.
even my elder dad agreed that there was really no way to refute this.
cause if dey been preaching da truuf for foty years and dey say...ahhh we have new light now.... then what does that make the old light of the past forty years???.
Aussie...........if only we'd all known...........................doesn't it sound like something from a bad movie?
.
not much to follow that .... day-umn, life is hard sometimes .... .
feel free to encourage me ... i need it.. .
Can you get to a place that has sunshine? Here in Texas that would be no problem...just the 107 degree termperature that goes along with it. At any rate, natural sunshine is a therapy that can help aleviate depression.
Also, a nice walk, perhaps some classical music, and knowing that we care about you.
just thought i'd introduce myself.
i've been lurking for a few months and want to get in on some of the conversation.. also here's a song that's taken on a new personal meaning for me.
(i was born in to a witness family and have recently woke up to the fact that it is just a group of people following just men.
Hello and welcome.
It may seem strange to use your brain so much for awhile, since the WTS did all "research" for you.
Once you do get used to it you can set goals for yourself and accomplish many things, and be an asset to society instead of an annoyance!
this is for those of you who are familiar with my periodic rants about being married to a jehovah's witness.
you won't be seeing any more of them.. my wife and i were up before dawn on friday and spent the entire day on our boat, trolling 10 miles from shore and talking.
we talked about our lives together, the ground we've covered in the 40 years since we met as university freshmen.
So very happy that you have found peace and co-existence. Perhaps you will be taking regular boat rides...they seem to work wonders!
