  in september 2004, farkel posted an article on this forum called "rutherford exposed: the story of berta and bonnie.

  " his essay, which subsequently was translated into several languages and which received over 10,000 views after the first month, spawned a thread that ran 28 pages and contained the collaborative research efforts of many in jwd.

  this thread was thought by some moderators to be the best in the forum -- not necessarily because of the claims in the original essay but because it inspired a staggering amount of research aimed at assessing the credibility of the claims made in the essay, as well as adding to our knowledge of this fascinating yet obscure chapter of watchtower history.

  I feel the same way.I didn't even bother this time. The Conti story and the facts (court documents) are easily accessed.

  Dang, All they have to do is read the documents to see that Watchtower is lieing to them.

  I used to get so excited when big events happened. Hoping they would wake up.

  I think they have to be distressed even if it's on a subconscience level before they will start view these things without their cult filtered glasses on.

  But my focus at the moment is something in that phone conversation that stands out to me in view of recent events. My mom is talking to me about Bill going public about the Child abuse problem in the Organization

  She says that the Catholic Church has stuff plastered all over the news about child abuse and the fact that the JW issue has not been exposed in the same way means we don’t have anything! She basically tells me we are lying about the extent of the problem with the JWs. I told her not to speak so fast, their day is coming.She kept pushing asking why it isn’t on national news yet and I told her that it has been in the news just not to the extent as the Catholics because the JWs are insignificant in the public in comparison. She said, “ That is not true!”

  Well, I was right their day came! Its been plastered all over the National news.There was Dateline and other shows in different countries.

  The worldwide exposure of their Pedophile problem will continue.

  Does any of that matter to them?

  The truth is slapping them in the face but my Mother, sister and most of the Witnesses will continue think its a lie and defend Watchtower no matter what.

  They just view it as persecution. Blind ,deaf and dumb!

  Learning about the Conti case and that Watchtower loosing the lawsuit will be a last straw for a few who were already beginning to wake up.

  I am thankful that they will finally be free.

  But sad and frustrated for the rest of Watchtowers mental captives.

  i started way back over 10 years ago on the old h2o & jwd boards under the id ranchette.

  i went through some huge life changes and dissappeared from all ex jw boards for years.

  i since remarried and and have a good circle of friends that were never jws.

  Yes, Tons of things have changed and not in ways I could have ever imagined. But it has worked out to be good changes.

  I am setteling in with this new ID since I started an account with gravetar and was able to get rid of my monster profile photo. I hated it.

  I am signing off with my old ID which helps those who knew me way back when to remember who I am.

  WATCHTOWER ASSETS NOT FROZEN FOR TWO YEARS
  
  There have been many comments and some articles written about the freezing of one billion dollars of Watchtower assets following the loss of the Candace Conti court case. Those that have commented on this are technically true in part but in the typical court proceedings this is just a matter of the regular filing of documents to protect the settlement f or the plaintiff.
  
  It is considered a typical move in a court proceeding to freeze the assets when the defendant had yet to obtain a bond to cover the settlement. It was apparent WT did not expect to lose and simply were not prepared for this. So the Judge doing his job made the ruling contingent upon WT obtaining a bond to protect the settlement for Ms Conti. The minute the Watchtower obtains the bond the all assets are free and clear to be used any way they wish. So this looks like more of a procedural matter. WT will obtain a bond in a week or so and the order will in a matter of typical court procedure be removed.
  
  Those are the facts. It would have been amazing to see their assets frozen for two years but in this instance it is just not the case. The point is this remains a major victory for abuse survivors everywhere. Institutions are being called into account for bullying victims into silence and in many instances hiding behind the first amendment as religion. We can finally see the brave efforts of those that have come forward having a huge impact and forcing unethical and immoral men to face responsibility for their actions. Thanks to all that speak out and help others to know they are not alone.

  I'm sure Watchtower is upset about having their property tied up like that.

  Do Jehovah's Witnesses Even Have A Child Abuse Policy?

  i know that sounds like a strange question.

  jehovah's witnesses have many procedures that are hidden from members and the public in a maze of letters and the elder's book with handwritten notes.

  they have also made many statements about their alleged child abuse policy, but these statements are not the actual policy.. most businesses have actual policies for issues like sexual harassment and reporting abuse.

  Yes they do have a Child abuse Policy.

  It is as you mentioned written in their Elder Manual and BOE letters.

  Their policy is criminal! Because of the 2 witness rule ,they hide child rape/ and protect Pedophiles!

  Of course it's not because they are okay with those horrible things.

  Plain and simple it's because they would rather protect their image than protect children. And they rationalize this witheir belief that Jehovah will bring justice in the end for everyone concerned.

  The congregation members report to the elders .That is it.

  Nothing more for them to do as far as the policy goes.

  The elders and Watchtower Legal Dept take it from there and sweep it under the rug.

  So unless they ever change their Policy on Child abuse there is nothing to write down officially for the Congregation or the rest of the world.
