GAINESVILLE, Missouri (AP) -- A Missouri man is calling on a higher power for his legal representation.
Richard John Adams requested Jesus Christ as his trial attorney during a hearing Wednesday on tampering charges.
Adams, who described himself as a patriot and a Christian, says lawyers are "devils" who are trying to undermine the Constitution.
Ozark County Circuit Judge John Moody told Adams the only person who can speak for him in the courtroom is a lawful attorney.
Adams is charged with tampering with a judge for hostile comments made during an earlier traffic case.
He faces a maximum of 14 years in prison if convicted of both counts.

i was reading a thread in which jh said:.
people knew we were jw's just by the way we dressed, but also by the way we talked.. .
now, not to come down on jh by any means, but this raised a question in my mind.
Ah, PurpleV, do not fret!! I've come back to kick the corpse you left behind...(Just kidding!)
It really is interesting to compare what perception versus reality. I also found what FunkyDerek said to be pretty telling- they aren't even remotely known for the "good news" they've been sharing for over a century. Jehovah may want to consider hiring better PR folks in the future. The witnesses are doing him no great favors as the newly appointed chosen ones...
i want to thank all those that helped and encouraged me in my hard times!..hubby passed away from his cancer this morning.
i am so sad my heart is broken.
we decided to go ahead and have a memorial for him this weekend at the kingdom hall he went to.
I'm deeply sorry to hear of your loss.

I was reading a thread in which JH said:
People knew we were JW's just by the way we dressed, but also by the way we talked.
Now, not to come down on JH by any means, but this raised a question in my mind. As a never-been-a-witness, I have to say that I never heard of this illustrious image that Witnesses allegedly possess... until I heard witnesses and ex-witnesses making reference to it. In other words, the only people I've heard talking about this astounding, exemplary reputation of Jehovah's Witnesses are those who had some affiliation with the group. Not a single one of my non-witness friends ever made any type of comment referring to the sparkling image of Jehovah's witnesses. Not a one.
So what is this reputation I'm hearing so much about and how realistic is it to assume that non-witnesses have any particular feelings about this reputation?
I can really only speak about my own experience, which is a few fleeting encounters with witnesses while growing up. Well, maybe. Is it possible that I never really had an occasion to meet any JWs in my youth? Or, is it more likely that I met several of them over the years and just wasn't particularly struck with awe over the wonderful standards of dress and demure demeanor of any of them? Not that it's a problem that someone is really notable, but how does that mesh with the concept that the group puts forth of this gleaming image that seemingly proceeds them wherever they go?
Obviously, if I ended up here, I must have had occasion to know a few witnesses as time went by. Was I stunned by their wonderful behavior? Their good grooming? Their lack of a good heartfelt cuss every now and again? No. I know lots of people of varying religious groups (and non-religionists) who also possessed those qualities.
In fact, the first two witnesses that I had any extended contact with, were, in my opinion, not particularly role-modelish.
If anything, even with my limited knowledge of the group, they certainly made me raise an eyebrow over seemingly hypocritical behvaviors. So, this outsider had no real impression of witnesses, hardly a stellar one!
Well, my thought is this might be a case of "legend in their own mind" as opposed to a realistic perception of how others view them.
Have you ever asked around to find out what non-witnesses really think about the group?
i thought ya'll might get a kick out of this one...something to put a smile on your face.. .

I think it's pretty funny, myself. Then again, one of my favorite sites is www.landoverbaptist.com
At times, over the top, but still funny, even while cringing!
I understand that some people may find dressmeupjesus offensive. They do, I don't. No problems.
Thank you for your interest. We regret to inform you that Pastor Russell's Miracle Wheat is currently out of stock. Perhaps we could interest you in Brother Miltie's Wonder Lettuce instead? Order now! After all, time is running out!
do you think that the pedophile problem in the watchtower organization is just as important as in the catholic church?
if we knew the statistics, and found out that there were a lot fewer pedophiles in the watchtower org.
than in other religions, would this be a victory on their part?
Well, I really can't say the last time I saw a bunch of priests wandering door to door in my neighborhood...
That said, pedophilia in any group is disgusting, criminal behavior. Not to be tolerated.
But, back to my point...
Thinking that a (church acknowledged) sexual predator may come knocking unsolicited on my door, finding out when I'm at home, or not at home...
{shuddering}

i think someone on this forum is a rat....or troll as i think they are called.. i am sitting at home last night watching fear factor, and there was a knock at the door.. i opened it to find two elders from my old hall.
they did not seem very sincere when they apologized for disturbing me without notice.. they said the purpose of there visit was to just to check up on me, find out if my circumstances or opinions had changed.
we ended up in a huge conversation about my "inactivity", they wanted to know if there was anything keeping or holding me back from the truth, and wanted to know if there was anything i needed to get of my chest, cause guilt has away of keeping people back.
Well, check this thread out. It seems there may be "rats" everywhere.
Or future "apostates"!
