  Hi Hawk,
  I'm fine with waiting. I'm eager to see what other jewel will be uncovered. I just want people to know that I won't be able to do anything anyway despite feeling motivated because I don't have a contact person. So, if they are hoping that I can do anything at all about contacing the media, they would be mistaken.

  Hi, thanks to whoever sent me the email about the pseudo-press release. Your advice was helpful. However, I am in an awkward postion as I cannot send out a press release to anyone anywhere without a viable contact name and phone number to attach to it. I would not be considered a viable contact so I cannot do it myself.
  Thanks to Machislopp and Mommy who have possibly volunteered. I have sent you emails. If you don't get them, please email me.

  This won't get to the press without someone who would be willing to field calls by the press on the matter. Please consider making yourself available to do this. If everyone sits back and lets someone else do it, it will never get done. If you are in a position to field phone calls from the press on this matter PLEASE EMAIL me. You do not have to be a professional spokesperson but simply someone who can explain the significance of the situation to a layperson. More often than not, you can still be an unidentified source if you request it but you need to let someone actually speak to first! I can't say this enough, it won't magically appear in the newspaper. Somebody sought out the Guardian reporter. Are you willing to talk to a reporter yourself?
  I would also be willing to explore media outlets where you can drop a dime and post them here if that would help. However, I am not a viable contact and acting as such would simply lessen the effectiveness of the message we are trying to spread. Maybe nobody thinks it's important enough to try and get this info to the media? I don't know how people feel about it. But seeing as how I am powerless to bring this matter to the media without a viable contact, I can do nothing to further spread the word without help. Everybody has done such good work. The rest of the world won't know about it and I think that's a shame. But it is what it is.

  So, if you're willing to step up, then email me. Otherwise, I'm done trying to motivate people in this particular manner. I still think everyone is great, but if my idea about hitting the media isn't of interest, I can deal with it.

  I need advice. Should I try to get the UN website to my friend ASAP? I already told my friend about it (he rationalized it) but now I'm worried I'll lose my unmitigated proof. Should I push the issue with my friend or do you think I'm over-reacting and still have a little time before I do that?

  Controversial Religious Sect's association with United Nations withdrawn after former sect members blow the whistle

  Former members of Jehovah's Witnesses recently made a scandalous discovery when they learned the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, also known as Jehovah's Witnesses, had affiliated itself with the United Nations by soliciting to become an associated Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). While a seemingly harmless affiliation to most of us, the reckoning of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's quietly associating itself with the U.N. is the making of a substantial scandal for the controversial religious organization. For years the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society has issued scathing statements in it's magazines and from the pulpit that slander the United Nations. Before an audience of about six million adherents, the Watchtower has repeatedly painted a vile description of the United Nations and it's goals. Recently, however, former members stumbled upon the shocking news that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, who made an art out of skewering the United Nations in it's publications, has been an affiliated NGO since 1991, a far cry from standing apart from the "disgusting thing" they have often described it as.

  Why is is this newsworthy?

  Stunned former members of Jehovah's Witnesses who learned of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's association with the United Nations and intitated a grass roots effort to draw attention to the situation that could prove enormously embarassing to the United Nations and spark revolt among the rank and file members of the sect. This revelation could be highly detrimental to the credibility of Watchtower Bible and Tract Society in the eyes of both the United Nations and of the religious organization's millions of adherents. In addition to misleading the United Nations by petitioning to support and promote it's purposes while simultaneously slandering it before the Watchtower Society's millions of faithful believers, the Watchtower Society has a history riddled with infringement upon basic human rights for it's "flock" by use of fear, manipulation and outright deception. Most rank and file members had no knowledge of the Watchtower Society's affiliation with the United Nations, and, as they have been led to believe the United Nations represents the "Scarlet-colored wild beast" of the bible, they would be shocked to learn of this affiliation.

  Why is this timely information?

  In short, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society only recently got caught. The whistle-blowing ex-members have clearly brought unexpected attention to the controversy. Just today it was learned that the Watchtower bible and Tract Society has withdrawn it's status as an non-governmental organization with the United Nations. At present, it is unclear if the society voluntarily withdrew it's status or was asked to do so by the United Nations.   here is the release I am working on. It is in layman's terms so that "outsiders" might get a better grasp of it. It's sensationalized a bit as well.You gotta do that if you want to get their attention. Anyone here can use any part of it that they like. It's time to mobilize. Heck, you are online anyway, why not look up your local paper and send them the scoop? Just to get the ball rolling, mind you! Again, I will send these to my local papers but am hoping to use one of the contacts who were good enough to offer themselves up.   Okay, re-writing the press release in my head now. People, now might be a good time to start circulating this information to the media. In two months the media won't care either way. Actually, there is no promise that they'll care now. But now would be a good time to try to get this out.

  Hi Mommy & Machislopp,
  Thank you for volunteering to be possible contacts. I did send a rough draft of the "press release" to Randy (Dogpatch). I'm not particularly adept at this type of writing so I'm torn over the approach my rough draft has taken. I would like to get this going sooner rather than later but want to be sure that it seems worthy of outsider interest without being so dramatic that they'd write off the issue as just some kooky cult antics that have no bearing on the outside world. I will email you both.
  Has anyone else considered attempting to contact the press? If so, I'd be interested in hearing their input.
