I have long hair. I haven't had a hair cut in over three years. I never had long hair in my life until now.
I haven't worn a suit for over three years either.

as jws, we were in bondage to the organization, its rules and its whims.
now, we do not have to follow their direction and believe that whatever we were being told was by "theocratic" arrangement.. so, what freedoms do you have now that you have been liberated?.

I would if I could, but it is generally not available where I live.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Jaguarbass. I don't quite follow your logic. Nevermind. I will just say that scientists who do research and publish papers are not "apologists" for anything. They simply use the theory of evolution as part of their "mental toolkit" to get things done. There is no reason for them to waste time with ancient myths or modern fictions, because they simply have too much to do in real life research.
Sitchen and his followers are no better than Russell with his pyramids or Fred Franz with his prophetic parallels. They write good stories based on pseudo-evidence, gain a following, make some money, and cry persecution when they are debunked.

At the risk of getting off topic here, I want to respond to Jaguarbass. I looked up Michael Tellinger and Zecharia Sitchin using Google search, something I would highly recommend that you, Jaguarbass, do as well, since their "theories" (Annunaki, Nibiru) have no basis in fact. Tellinger bases his creative fiction off of the creative fiction invented by Sitchin, who poses as a scholar of ancient languages. It seems like you won't read any serious information written by evolutionary biologists or paleontologists, but you get suckered in by these con artists?
I also looked up James Gills. Do the words "Christian Apologist" mean anything? You might as welll be reading Life: How Did It Get Here - By Evolution or Creation? by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. You might especially enjoy chaper 11, "The Amazing Design of Living Things." In paragraph 11 they quote a scientist as saying that he "doesn't know" how a bunch of microscopic cells can assemble the complex skeleton of a sponge. See that! Scientists don't know! Creationists win! Not!

"Life: The First Four Billion Years by Richard Fortey, who takes a very wide angle, examining not just organic evolution but also what was going on geologically and climatalogically at the same time, since everything affects the other. He's got a great "chatty" style which is pleasant to read."
Yes, that was a very interesting book to read.

i don't feel i have to know the truth about how life started or where we're coming from etc, but can't help thinking abt it anyway now and then.
guess it's only natural.. right now i feel really clueless and that i have too little knowledge abt the darwin, big bang theory.... (i was always taught by the dubs that darwin questioned his own theory...but was it really so?)..
i have a close friend who's sure of the evolution but can really the complex and wonderful life and nature come abt by chance (even though he says it's not chance...).
I recommend reading the website Talk Origins.org. A good place to start is 29+ Evidences for Macro Evolution.
I once read a good book on Intelligent Design by Michael Behe called Darwin's Black Box. That was probably the best book I read that supported creation. You should read the best that both sides have to offer in terms of arguments and evidence.

so i'm still stuck on the jw email spam train, and my mom sends me this powerpoint with a horrible, horrible presentation with job 38 set to a bunch of pictures of the universe and whatnot.
you know the passage, it's all "where were you when i created the earth, you insignificant gnat".
and the point, i guess, is to show that god is all powerful and awesome.
Hey UB, long time no see! Nice story. Not quite Robert A. Heinlein, but it gets the point across. For some reason I don't think most JWs would quite appreciate your sense of humor.
"Now that my eyes have seen you, I shudder with sorrow for mortal clay."
That makes more sense to me than the text found in modern translations.

it took it's toll on my camaro today.
the thing overheated, giving me a little warning.
i opened the hood, and the water pump is leaking.
I had to get the water pump replaced on my old Toyota pickup just over a month ago. It didn't overheat. I had arrived at work and parked. A few minutes later I noticed dripping underneath the engine. The Haynes repair manual I always have in the truck said that dripping coolant was a sign that the water pump seal had gone bad. Fortunately, I work right next to several auto repair shops, so I drove it to the closest one. He had the pump replaced right away and charged $110 parts and labor. It seemed like a good deal at the time.

how long does the society or christians say, "man has been on earth?
" according to the bible.. how long does scientist say, "man has existed on earth?
" which can be reasonably proven.. how does the neanderthals fit into the picture of the bible?.
Q. How long does the Society or Christians say, "man has been on earth?" according to the Bible.
A. WTS chronology puts Adam's creation date at 4026 BCE.
Q. How long does Scientist say, "man has existed on earth?" which can be reasonably proven.
A. http://www.becominghuman.org/
Q. How does the Neanderthals fit into the picture of the Bible?
A. The word "Neaderthal" is not found in the Bible. Interestingly, Neanderthal fossils are generally shorter in stature than those of Homo sapiens, so the Biblical reference to "giants" and Nephilim wouldn't fit the description of these extinct hominids.
Q. Was Adam a Neanderthal or a Homo Sapien?
A. Adam (the one in Genesis) is a fictional character.

i have never been fat - exactly.
but i have been overweight most of the past two decades.
lately it has settled around my waistline.. so, i decided to find a way to lose it without falling back into bad eating habits - a lifestyle change.. i have taken a few steps and began earnest effort to start moving the scale southward last monday, so i am 8 days in.. here is what i am doing:.
That's great news, Jeff! It's good to hear your BP is dropping. Won't it be nice to get off that medication eventually. Remember that high BP is only a symptom and the drugs are designed to suppress those symptoms without really fixing the underlying causes. It sounds like your focus is in the right place. Weight loss should always be secondary to better health. Take the best care of your body, and your body will find its optimum weight.
