What was your dream?
by daystar ini was such a romantic when i was younger.
i entertained dreams that there was this one, beautiful woman out there that was meant for me, and i for her.
i can remember thinking about these sort of things from a very early age, maybe as young as five years old.. this woman (girl then) haunted my dreams, literally.

I don't remember a lot of good dreams of my own. Some of the good ones for many of us had been implanted from the pages of the WT lit. However, I can remember a lot of my own nightmares as far back as a little child. I was always alone against strange people I didn't know. This was beautifully put, Daystar. I asked myself why can't I see such beauty in my dreams? It made me stop and think, for which I thank you.

You should hear how some of these songs sound translated into other languages. I remember reading Shakespear translated and I thought," This is their greatest poet?!". Well, later when I learned to speak 'canadian' I thought Shakespear didn't make sense at all (Pushkin is the best poet there ever was, but to really appreciate him you'd have to learn Russian). Ok if many of the Kingdom songs sound so bad in English (I mean, the official language of the WTBTS is the official language of the Anglo-American empire, right?), imagine them translated into my native Russian? The lyrics baffled me, I remember, when I sang them. I know it's hard to translate, and the interpreters have probably done their best, but they sound crappy in English to start with. Certain things are impossible to translate. Certain words/concepts/ideas just don't exist in other languages.

What songs got you through good or tough times?
by jojochan ini've been in an upbeat mood lately.
i don't know if it's all the exercise that i'm doing or what but i've not been moody all 3 weeks.one thing that i've noticed, is that i've listened to certain songs that made me forget about "her" and move on with bigger and better things.
when i was depressed i listened to some songs from tool, some from the cure, barbra manning, the old babyface songs, some from sade, sweetback, and maxwell and everything but the girl.

No songs, no particular songs anyway. I lo-o-o-ve music - all kinds of it, don't discriminate. For those times when I feel like hanging myself - it's just music, instumental stuff, no words please...I got some words of my own to describe this life . There's plenty good stuff on the net, though. I like Jazzanova and some smooth jazz. Something that help me relax and "think" my way out of a problem I'm in. "Cafe del mar" stuff is ok. Different situations challenge me in a different way, so no special songs - just something that feels right for that particular moment (and it could be anything). I play my Djembe drum to get my stress out after work.

DO SOMETHING
by ArtfulDodger ini see this site gets thousands of postings every day .. from literally thousands of members, mostly ex-dubs, from all over the world.. rather than simply go on moaning and whinging about the big nasty org why don't you all put your efforts into something positive ... do something.. ok - the org is evil .. but it exists ... and simply whining on about it doesn't change that.
with your efforts directed at something positive, you could do wonders for .
.for anything you choose.. hundreds of real charities could do with your support - to help the really needy .

Seeing how many people took offence to this post, it stinks of universal condemnation from most of you. I'd just ignore the dude who posted it, but y'all feel the need to justify yourselves and others here. Who cares?. I'm a JW right now, I don't think I'm in cult, but I do have problem with some of the things done/said by the WTS. I reserve the right to visit the sites that I wish to visit and talk to anyone I want to talk to. I have been disfellowshipped in the past and was re-instated. My opinion is that most of you have a point in airing your grievances against the WTS. But I kinda agree with the question: isn't there better way to bring about change in the WTS? On the other side I do agree that it's hard to go on as nothing happened when you're out of the org. when all your social contact has been cut off and a site like this is absolutely necessary for some. The worldly friends that I acquired when I left Jehovah's Witnesses just could not relate to what I was going through. I don't believe everything that is said here, I believe when people are angry they will say a lot of things and will exaggerate a lot. Some of you are doing exactly that, Jehovah's Witnesses for the most part are wonderful people, but are imperfect like everyone else. Of course the org will be imperfect just like the Witnesses. Whether this is a good enough explanation/validation/justification is up to everyone to decide for themselves. Sites like these help us to look @ ourselves with a critical eye, but there's too much hysteria and propaganda here too. Many ex-jw's accuse JW's a seeing the world as "black and white", "good and evil". But some here still think along exactly the same lines: "WatchTower is evil, everybody else is good", "JW's are brainwashed, everybody else if freethinker". C'mon, some of you are as indoctrinated in your views as you accuse JW's of being, eh?
