recently i had the pleasure to examine a stash of 1920s and 1930s golden age magazines, among the rarest of watchtower publications.
i thought it would be a fun idea to have a thread in which i share with you some of the amazing, ridiculous, hilarious things contained therein.
hence, this is the first post of a series of excerpts, scans, etc.
That letter to the FRC is priceless. It shows that rutherford was mad, delusional and had great ideas of grandness as well

there are benefits to this as i don't have to rent a car or room for myself and family.
the downside to this is that it will now be harder to miss segments of the program or an entire day without being scrutinized.
I noticed the same thing in the greater Vancouver BC area. For the last 4 years the big assemblies (an assembly of asses) are hald in a differnet place each year. The Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. (where you see hockey games of the canucks) was the usual dist assembly place for at least 25 years. I remember those days going into Vancouver and going the the big A. It was quite exciting to see some 30,000 other dubies. I remember disliking the apostates that had signs at the big A. But now I think they were cool.
The acoustics in the Pacific Coliseum are not that great . The brothers giving talks had to speak fairly slowly do avoid being drowned out by there own echo. "WE WE SEE SEE HOOWOOHOOW JEEHOOVJEHOOVER blah blah
there is a discussion on the board new jwd members on the horizon!
that suggests many of those who were pushed out of wt headquarters will leave the wts and some may find their way here.. i hope that is what happens.. but i have a sinking feeling that the opposite might happen.

It is simple math. Conventions are EXPENSIVE! The WTS saves big bucks by breaking up the big dist assemblies into smaller ones. It amounts to really just another meeting at the kingdom hall. I used to dream of sittin in the KH for 2 1/2 hours while the world was enjoying the sunshine!

This is how the WTS viewed the world back then . A large part of the worlds people would survive armagedon. The million's referred to are evidently a group of persons other than the WTS and it's members. The WTS still had not identified the "great crowd" in 1925.and the WTS membership did not number in the millions.
Somewhere along the way the WTS doctrine changed and the only persons who would survive the armaggedon would be the great crowd (along with WTS)and all persons outside the WTS membership would be destroyed. So according to 1925 doctrine, persons other than the great crowd will survive arnaggedon. Believe!! It came directly from jehoover.!
This means that all the door to door work and kingdom service is pointless!

i had to wade through a lot of muck to find anyone with any reasonable arguments in my last post.
most were just the usual personal attacks from the fringe and their flock of followers.
instead of dealing with them, i have decided to post one response to those who made some valid points.
