I think that the only increases in JW today are due to JW offspring.
I'm sure that there is more JW leaving than converts coming into the Borg

Any information on number of JW's who have left?
by *jeremiah* inso i'm curious if there is any accurate information out there as far as the number of people who have left the jw's.
maybe annually or per decade or whatever.. you have those who are disfellowshipped, those who are disassociated, and then those who are never baptised who just kind of walk away.
i'm sure "the society" has these numbers, yet, i'm sure they don't come off of them.

Infinite number of oranges and boxes does every box contain an orange?
by Qcmbr infollowing the fun of the recent evolution v designed designer discussion we knocked some ideas about infinity around in the office starting with the above question.. clearly the answer is no but is it?
does infinite then presuppose an infinite universe to contain the infinite oranges and boxes but then how can you have two infinite sets in the same space?
now this is possible if you contain each orange in a box (make the oranges a set within the box - literally!

My view of the infinite
The concept of infinity actually solves more paradoxes than it creates.. For instance to say the universe is bounded creates as necessary wall out there, but made out of what - swiss cheese? Then there will be a wall of swiss cheese without limit. The concept of space is to remember that the notion of distance is for the observer alone.
Without the concept of infinity calculus would not exist.
Think of the smallest number you can. Mathematicians usually call this number delta x but another may think of an even smaller number and hence the need arises for a way to describe a value (not a number) that is greater than zero but less than delta x . This is usually written as dx or dy or dz or whatever. The ratio dy/dx is a number, the ratio delta x/delta y is an approximation..
If not for infinity the whole universe could not exist

by ThomasCovenant inhello in conversation today with brother-in- law who is still in the borg.he said while he may have questions about the whole god issue he doesn't know of any other religion that refuses to kill their fellow believer if politicians say you must.
that is a strong plus point for him on the virtues of the wt.

Active JWs, hows KN37 going?
by StillGroggy inhey everybody, i had an interesting time pushing a tract that i don't believe in this weekend.
i had to develop my own method of placing it without having to talk about it, since i fear if i was confronted by someone asking "do you people think you're the only true religion", i might break down and tell the person at the door "no, i don't".
the witness at the door with me would scream in terror, and i would be insta-dfed.

Just drove by my local KH
by headmath ini just drove by my local kh at 10:30 wednesday oct 25 and noted 18 cars in the parking lot.
this contrasts from just last wednesday when there where 60 cars in the lot.
this shows that the turn out for service is down by 75% in a one week period.. i guess alot of dubs have placed their tracts.

I guess alot of dubs have placed their tracts. Just yesterday 2 JWs knocked on my door. They knocked (hit,hit) then 2 seconds later pressed the door bell. What nit wits would knock and press the door bell seconds apart??. I knew it had to be JWs so I scrambled for my anti witness tract and headed up stairs . I opened the door and the 2 dubs were already walking down the side walk. They were at the door for no less than 15 seconds!!
It appears the JW don't what to get into a conversation about false religion since the internet has exposed them for the false prophets they are

This could make a very good tract if there was a quality scan of it

on wednesday (two days earlier) i counted 60 cars in the parking lot at 10:30 .
i was expecting a greater turn out on saturday but actually it was far less.
