If WT were smart they would have just said to stay away from blood because their twisted bible scripture says so and left it at that. But no, they had to elaborate the issue with their phony blood brochure.

I don't understand the big news! can blondie or someone do an idiots guide?
by Crumpet inplease can someone summarise the big news or put it in plainer english?
i've rushed home from work anxious to hear it, read it and still don't understand the ramifications for the borg of this.
it could be because my head is spinning from work or i am just plain stupid....from what i've read the impact isn't going to have my family throwing down their watchtowers and realising they love me more, but hat was my own particular pie in the sky.. also how do we get it so that it comes up on google so that anyone wanting to know about jws and blood come to this news straight away.. dunce-crumpet.

If this holds up in court, which I believe it could, the potential damage awards can bankrupt the Society. It didn't take long for the Boston Archdiocese to file for bankruptcy after the Catholic Church scandal.
I just finished reading the full article and it has very strong legs to stand on.

RE: blood issue and media.
by avishai inplease send letters to stephen bates requesting an article on this issue.
many of you may not see immediately how important this matter is.
beyond the other legal ramifications, i.e, the wts lying about secular info., intentional deception, etc., the blood issue is a huge one.

I'm a terrible letter writer. Can someone post copies of their letters that we can use.
There is a hospital in my area that has a Bloodless Surgery center. Many JW's from around the state go there for surgery. I would like to send them a letter.

GET REAL PEOPLE !!
by Simon indo some of you expect?!?!.
i am extremely disappointed to read some people's comments about the latest news.
it is one thing to express and opinion, perhaps that you think it isn't as big as you imagined (one wonders what you imagined) but it is another to be downright insulting to people who have put a lot of time and effort into this.. get real.

by AndersonsInfo in(baylor university, waco, tx) an essay entitled, "jehovah's witnesses, blood transfusions, and the tort of misrepresentation," found in the autumn issue of baylor universitys prestigious journal of church and state, published december 13, 2005, exposes the vulnerability of jehovahs witnesses religious organization to massive claims for compensation because of the religions misrepresentation of the medical risks of blood transfusions.
this milestone essay critically examines one of the religions main publications for teaching their children and new recruits about their blood beliefs, how can blood save your life?
the peer-reviewed essay details many misrepresentations of medical facts, which the religion partly relies on to support its blood prohibition, thus denying its members from making fully informed medical decisions.

This news has the potential to cause the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society to file for bankruptcy in years to come.
How many years?? Realistic estimates anyone? It didn't take long for the Archdiocese to file for bankruptcy after the Catholic Church scandal.

Yea, the WTS will have time to come up with an "official" story to tell the sheepies...but nothing they can do or say can change what they have already done and said in the past. A court of law isn't a bunch of dumb cult followers. If it gets to court, it could hurt.
Their spin may convince the JW's, but it isn't going to convince a judge and jury.

I can see how this will affect other religions, particularly the Scientologists, who have a bogus stance on anti-depressents .
