The more they hammer away about not visiting apostate sites the more curious it will make them.

Will the Watchtower take down their website?
by integ inwhat can the watchtower do to stop the influx of their flock from going to apostate web sites that expose their false doctrines?
one way would be to take down their website so no one would even have a reason to get on line.
too severe right?

Which way will the Society go because of the Internet?
by be wise ini've only learned the truth about this society over the last 5 months or so, so i'm not sure what the difference is to say - 2 years ago.
do you think the society will now get even more cultish in it's methods of teaching and more heavy handed if they feel things are slipping?
i don't feel i'm being over the top here because i've experienced very heavy handed talks at the assemblies and kingdom hall in the past that are just plain scare tactics but this just makes people ask more questions ??

As the availability of the internet continues to increase, it will be harder to recruit outsiders.

Jehovah's Witness criticism
3. juli 2003 Print Article (IE & NS 4+) Refugees in Denmark are reportedly being harassed by Jehovah's Witnesses, who are staging a directed campaign to win converts among asylum seekers
The church of Jehovah's Witnesses is exploiting the critical situation facing many of the nation's refugees by evangelising to them in asylum centres. So says Mohammed-Reza Taremian, chairman of the Århus Integration Council, in an interview with MetroXpress.
‘When they tell refugees that everything will be fine, and that it's easier to gain asylum status if they listen to the Jehovah's Witnesses, that's exploiting their situation. They're being tricked,’ said Taremian.
Taremian says the Jehovah's Witness movement deliberately targets weak refugees, and is familiar with several cases where asylum seekers were ‘tricked’ into the religious movement during their stays at asylum enters.
Anette Haugaard, press director at the Danish Red Cross asylum department, confirmed that Jehovah's Witnesses had created problems at the centres.
‘Refugees at the Sandholm Centre feel harassed by the Jehovah's Witnesses. We don't have a reliable overview of the problem right now, but we have prohibited the Jehovah's Witnesses from spreading propaganda in our centres,’ Haugaard said.
Former longtime Jehovah's Witness Poul Dal said that the movement began a directed campaign toward refugees as early as the mid-1990s.
‘We took note of where they lived, and made sure to contact them again. The refugees' vulnerable situation was used,’ Dal told Politiken.
Jehovah's Witness spokesman Erik Jørgensen confirmed the group's visits to refugees.
‘The fact that refugees are in a difficult situation means they need support and help. But they're not victims. We're not exploiting them,’ said Jørgensen.

They must have seen the BBC Panorama programme where they were there with a camera and microphone as Jarasc got off because I heard the security around the platform was very tight ... brothers on every corner etc ...
So the security team is made up of brothers??? With terroristic threats in large venues these days the attendees are leaving their safety in the hands of brothers with no training?

What do you do for a living ??? Would the elders make you quit your job ???
by run dont walk inthis one is my biggest pet peeves.. growing up in the borg, i had a hard time finding any job, let alone a decent paying one.. i had to quit many jobs because my parents said "i was missing out to many meetings and field service.".
but how come the elders who worked at ford, chysler, gm, or any big factories, that worked shift work, and missed meetings every three weeks consistently for decades, and that was okay.
the response i would get was, "well they have a family to raise and look after.

The elder's made my friend quit his job at a dry cleaners. Not because of the job, because of the owners. He was newly baptised and very weak in the truth. They were non-Christians and thanks to me, knew all of the right questions to ask him. He also had a strong liking for the owners daughter who was as worldly as you can get.

This topic is very important and should be kept alive.
I too am a stockholder with Philip Morris, which is now called Altria Group (symbol: MO). In addition to owning Philip Morris tobacco products, they own Kraft Foods and other well known brands. Their tobacco products make up less than 25% of their industry. For more information see their web site at www.altria.com
It would be impossible for the Watchtower to NOT know about owning this stock as some have suggested. For one, when the trust was inherited, Watchtower lawyers and accountants would have scrutinized the inheritance to determine how much it's worth.
Philip Morris/Altria does pay quarterly dividends so the Watchtower would receive them and their accountants would be aware of this. At the end of the year, I have to pay tax on the dividends. Whether religious organizations are tax exempt or not, I do not know but they would still have to file tax forms.
I receive annual reports with a voting proxy. All stockholders receive this including the Watchtower. Whether or not they read the reports and vote is irrelevant. The fact is this information is sent to them.

Jews consider Judaism more than just a religion. Other than being a culture, Judaism is made up of different tribes. Native Americans are still Native Americans whether they practice Shamanism, Christianity or Atheism.
