Are You a Junk Food Junkie? Eat Healthy?
by Frannie Banannie indo you mostly eat healthy?

I generally eat healthy but I'm far from being a health food nut. I eat whole grains (not processed), have my daily serving of Flax seeds, drink 1 quart of unsweetened cranberry juice and use Stevia as a sweetener. My downfall is chocolate.

Vacationing with a Witness
by DevonMcBride inthe end of october i'm going on a 9 day cruise to the caribbean with a group of 70 people.
one of the the travelers is a jw and it will be interesting to see how "worldly" she will behave away from her jw clan.
at our christmas party (that's right she was at our christmas party) she got drunk and she buys christmas presents for her grandchildren who are not jw.

Would a JW vote if...
by jws ini know that technically speaking, the wtbs has left voting as a "matter of conscience" in certain articles, but growing up jw, in practice, voting was always strictly forbidden.. with our referendum elections going on in texas, i got to wondering whether they just avoided political elections?
or are all sorts of political voting forbidden, such as on propositions?
for instance, should certain types of taxes be allowed to increase for disabled people?

I often wondered the same thing

Styrofoam Personalities at the Kingdom Hall
by Nosferatu ini think it's absolutely amazing how people strip off the old personality, and put on the new personality when they enter the kingdom hall.
everyone looks incredibly phony.
those smiles aren't genuine.

I've only been to a Kingdom Hall once but noticed the people weren't happy at all. Many were stone-faced

I Am Changing The Word "Worldly" To Normal....
by minimus ininstead of making the difference known that anyone not a jehovah's witness is "worldly", i think we should simply refer to them as "normal".

Good idea, then I can say I've been normal all of my life.

NOTE On American No Call List
by Francois in.
i noticed someone here the other day making a discouraging remark about the subject no call list to the effect that it was a waste of time because advertising calls were still coming through.
i don't remember who was making these ill-informed remarks.. the american no call list does not go into effect until october 1, 2003. best to be fully informed before blasting a good idea out of the saddle.. frank

My two week consulting trip to Bethel (the beginning of the end) Part 5
by seven006 ini knew i had a bright mind, i had been told that my whole life.
she hated going out in service but since i hated it myself we didn't go do the door to door work much.
i look back now and i can't believe how controlling and un-loving that religion had made me.

Dave,
I'm enjoying this story more than General Hospital, All My Children and Days of Our Lives.

"If your husband is not a Witness, then the elders are your head."
by berylblue inthis nauseating sentiment was pounded into me by the woman with whom i parroted back what she wanted to hear studied.
she honestly believed it, submissive little thing that she was, and ran off to the elders everytime she had a hangnail problem.. what other little gems did you, as women, hear all the time?.
men, do you realize how demeaning it is to sit all the time through meetings and listen to the headship s***?

Interestingly, these same elders couldn't even run their own families let alone run someone else's. Many of their own kids were out of control.
