"If your husband is not a Witness, then the elders are your head."

This nauseating sentiment was pounded into me by the woman with whom I parroted back what she wanted to hear studied. She honestly believed it, submissive little thing that she was, and ran off to the elders everytime she had a hangnail problem.

What other little gems did you, as women, hear all the time?

Men, do you realize how demeaning it is to sit all the time through meetings and listen to the headship s***? I always thought, "Screwed over once again. Women get to have complete sh*ts imperfect men for "heads", and men get to have Jesus."

Similarly, what is with the Garden of Eden crap? We women got punished twice. We got the "birth pangs" , etc., AND Adam's curse as well (because we had to deal with those damned "thorns and thistles" (in literal and figurative sense) as well.

I agree that the elders / organization inserts themselves into the family arrangement, especially when the husband is DF'd. They work to make the woman useful to THEIR purposes, at the cost of normal family relationships. Some have even been encouraged to withdraw (physically or emotionally) from their husband.

Geez, these women feel that they must consult the elders first and then their own husbands second. Their husband, not being a JW, is not qualified to lead them (apparently).

    It is insidious.

"If your husband is not a Witness, then the elders are your head."

This bright idea was the root of much childhood misery for my "headless" family.

This doesn't surprise me. When we stopped going to meetings, my wife later talked with an elder and he tried to undermine our relationship... telling my wife that I'm domineering, etc. Anyone who knows us realizes how much of a joke that is! My wife and I treated each other like equals... even when we were dubs. I hated the whole idea that the male sex is "superior." It can't be true... guys are smelly and ugly.

I also found it funny that this elder accused me of being domineering when that is the exact behavior they encourage in a christian marriage. His only goal IMO was to try and undermine our relationship so that he could convince her to come back to meetings.

    It didn't work.

Interestingly, these same elders couldn't even run their own families let alone run someone else's. Many of their own kids were out of control.
