I'd invest it in stocks that pay a high yield dividend.

Anyone going to the convention this weekend?
by cinnamon1642 injust wondering if anyone was going to one of the conventions that start this weekend in the us?
if so it'd be interesting if it was recorded and could be posted to hear if there are any other new changes and to confirm previous announcements regarding it.

martial arts
by Mysterious ini remember the jw view of martial arts being cemented in my head when i asked my mother at the age of 6 if i could take karate.
the look of horror on her face.
she told me it was violent and jws could not practice violence.

Octarine Prince,
I love your avatar. That's an adorable baby.
And I agree, Tai Chi is a martial art. I took two Tai Chi classes and it seemed like a cross between karate and yoga (another Watchtower no-no).

I just got my purple belt in Kenpo Karate. In my karate school we also learn Brazilian JuiJitsu and Muay Thai. The adult karate class is very fitness oriented, both mentally and physically. There is no meditation, no bowing to flags, no idol worship, etc. We do stretches to build flexibility; a lot of cardio; katas; and self defense techniques. The children's classes are more about teaching them confidence; to respect themselves and others; eating healthy; and learning to protect themselves against pedophiles and predators. There is nothing taught in my class that would be objectionble to any religion. However, the Jehovah's Witnesses stereotype all martial arts as BAD/EVIL because some styles of karate do practice meditation and bowing, etc.
If anything, the Watchtower should be encouraging JW's to learn self defense to protect themselves from nutcases when they go door to door.

watchtowers at my threrapist's office
by loosie inwhen i go to my threrapist's office, while waiting in the waiting room, i look for wts and awakes.
when i find them i write on them a website either this one or silent lambs or i just write "this group is a cult" across the front of it.. one visit i found like 12 wts.
i didn't have time to scribble a note on all of them before my therapist called me in.. well this week.

Illegals and Job Growth
by sammielee24 ini didn't know there had been a major deportation of illegals in 1954 in order to open up those jobs for americans needing work.
with unemployment rising quickly, do you think that the next president will produce another 'operation roundup' so that they can better manage the countries finances and labour problems?
operation wetback was a 1954 project of the united statesimmigration and naturalization service (ins) to remove about 4 million illegal immigrants from the southwestern united states, with a focus on mexican nationals.. .

I live in a large farming area in Pennsylvania. They either hire Americans or Mexicans with legal work visas and they have student internship programs in which they get college credit instead of a salary. I buy all of my produce in the farmers markets which are still far cheaper than grocery stores.

Welcome to the board. This NBC report about the settled lawsuits should prove the truth.

Unfortunately closed minded JW's won't believe anything they don't want to hear about the Watchtower.

McCain Getting Disabilty Payments?
by sammielee24 injohn mccain receives both social security and a navy pension that has been described as a disability pension of $58,000.00.
i wouldn't begrudge anyone the right to a disability pension if they needed it - but i always thought it was for being medically unable to work.
he obviously can work.

I'm not a supporter of McCain but according to his filing, the $58,000 is his Navy pension. Nothing on there says it's for disability.
