I must disagree; ONLY Elders are allowed a copy and only Elders are allowed access to it.

This elder's manual seems to be in everybodies hands now, how exactly do you propose getting it back? it is like trying to close Pandora's Box.
can someone please remind me how they explain the need for a secret elders book to the r & f?
my jw has given numerous convoluted reasons over the years and i have forgotten the official reasoning.
on one hand they claim no clergy class, we are all the same, blah, blah, yet they have only one book the r & f (particularly women) cannot see.
1. Jehovah has entrusted elders with the responsibility
to care for his precious sheep that he purchased
with the blood of his Son. (Acts 20:28) This
is a serious responsibility, but through holy spirit,
elders can properly care for the sheep. Not only
has Jehovah provided his own example as the Supreme
Overseer but he has also sent to the earth his
own Son, "the fine shepherd," to leave "a model"
for us. (John 10:11; 1 Pet. 2:21, 25) God's written
Word is "beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for
setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness."
(2 Tim. 3: 16) In addition, he gives timely direction
through "the faithful and discreet slave." (Matt.
24:45) This publication has been prepared to help elders
to "shepherd the flock of God." -1 Pet. 5:2. 2. "Shepherd the Flock of God"
has been designedas a handbook for elders to supply vital information
that will help them care for congregation matters.
...Because of efforts to simplify this publication,
it does not cover every aspect of our work as eIders.
At times you may need to consult other publications
and letters to the body of elders for detailed
information. Be alert to future direction and adjustments
so as to stay up-to-date on theocratic direction.
3. As an elder, your ultimate objective is to imitate
the Supreme Overseer, Jehovah, and his Son in the
way you treat the sheep. (Eph. 5:1) Jehovah sets the

ok so both books are copyrighted, bottleofwater just asked to get a copy of coc a book that would save his life.
however when he asked for a copy he got replies that called him a thieve and many other things.
however when copying the new flock book many here copy the book and pass it along and not many say the same thing..... so i wonder what do you think?

I for one firmly believe that we are entitled to a copy of this book. This is a charitable organisation to which most of us have subscribed. This book is as important to members of the congregations as all the other books, Bible and other study books.
As it was not for sale, there is NO financial loss, any claim in courts would not be about money and would be seen as vexatious litigation.
The way the WTBTS have gone about this book has been stupid to say the least, they have lost face. This is like Pandora's box and there is no return.

why bother reprinting?.
They had to reprint it;
there wasn't anymore space in the 1991 edition for elders to write notes in!
Now they even have a few blank pages as well as the margins.
sometimes we debate about which is better - to fade...or to da/get dfd.. there are pros and cons to each method.
faders like to say that they're not playing by the rules and can still associate with family.
daers say that they are totally free and can speak their mind and celebrate their holidays as they see fit with absolutely no retributinos.. i see the advantages of both sides and understand why one chooses one path over another.
That is very strange;
Some time ago I applied under the Data Protection Legislation in the UK for ALL mention of me in the Cong records. They sent me copies of letters to and from the branch BUT NO copy of my record card, they claimed they had not got one.
But oddly in ALL the correspondance they refer to me as Brother fokyc!
I am mystified by their rules etc. Am I in or am I out?
