Circuit Assemblies in the "Good Old Days"
by BluesBrother injust been reminiscing about how c/a's have changed since we were young.
i remember when they started friday night in some rented hall , as well as the two weekend days.
saturday morning was a brief session then field ministry (which only a few performed ) and sunday sessions.. in the free time around the venue we just used to hang out socialising and eyeing up the girls.

So true, I remember Bingley Hall, Cirencester in 1963 when I was a total idiot and decided to get baptised.
In some ways they seemed quite good times!
Shortly after was the great 8 day assembly at Twickenham, living in a tent beside the reservoirs.

I am here to:
READ TESTIMONIES FROM MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH
LEARN FROM MEMBERS (BELIEFS, DOCTRINES, HISTORY OF THE CHURCH/FAITH)
& TO READ ADVICE FROM MEMBERS.
Notice how I mentioned 'members' several times...I really want info coming from just that, rather then former members or critics. This chap is unbelievable!

New light in this weeks WT?
by Indian Larry inanybody have any ideas where they are going with the "new light" they have been pushing last week and this week?
for instance in this weeks study article one section reads:.
in years gone by, we believed that jehovah became displeased with his people because they did not have a zealous share in the preaching work during world war i. we concluded that for this reason, jehovah allowed babylon the great to take them captive for a short time.

All About The Words We Used
by dubstepped inin the time since i've left the borg behind i've had a few things hit me as to how words were used.
i'm wondering if anyone else has some similar examples, but here are some things that have made me think:.
watchtower - my whole life i saw this as a thing of protection from outside evil forces, and then when i left someone pointed out "isn't that what they used to keep people in prison".

To be read by a "QUALIFIED BROTHER".
A qualified brother is an elder who can put over lies in a very believing way!

*** g88 11/22 p. 7 When the Battering Will Stop ***
In England, 19th-century legislators tried to reduce the suffering of women by determining legally how large the stick could be. They devised what was known as the rule of thumb law, which allowed a man to beat his wife with a stick “no larger around than his thumb.”

How can this possibly happen?
I was told that, "Elders are spiritually appointed men appointed by Holy Spirit and blessed by Jehovah".
Perhaps the Elders in Gloucestershire have got it wrong?
