So true, I remember Bingley Hall, Cirencester in 1963 when I was a total idiot and decided to get baptised.
In some ways they seemed quite good times!
Shortly after was the great 8 day assembly at Twickenham, living in a tent beside the reservoirs.
just been reminiscing about how c/a's have changed since we were young.
i remember when they started friday night in some rented hall , as well as the two weekend days.
saturday morning was a brief session then field ministry (which only a few performed ) and sunday sessions.. in the free time around the venue we just used to hang out socialising and eyeing up the girls.

hello all.... i am new here so i figured i'd make a quick post introducing myself and giving a brief intro as to who i am and what i'm here for... as well as to hopefully meet others.. so, i made a profile and in it i gave a pretty detailed explanation as to my intent here and exactly why i decided to participate in the boards.
in case you don't read it, i'll give a brief summary.
the name is robert.
I am here to:
READ TESTIMONIES FROM MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH
LEARN FROM MEMBERS (BELIEFS, DOCTRINES, HISTORY OF THE CHURCH/FAITH)
& TO READ ADVICE FROM MEMBERS.
Notice how I mentioned 'members' several times...I really want info coming from just that, rather then former members or critics.
This chap is unbelievable!
anybody have any ideas where they are going with the "new light" they have been pushing last week and this week?
for instance in this weeks study article one section reads:.
in years gone by, we believed that jehovah became displeased with his people because they did not have a zealous share in the preaching work during world war i. we concluded that for this reason, jehovah allowed babylon the great to take them captive for a short time.
New Light - Old Light; it's all a load of Gaslight!

it's not obvious to me from an inspection of the different tabs which one governs background shading to show quotes.. can anyone help?

in the time since i've left the borg behind i've had a few things hit me as to how words were used.
i'm wondering if anyone else has some similar examples, but here are some things that have made me think:.
watchtower - my whole life i saw this as a thing of protection from outside evil forces, and then when i left someone pointed out "isn't that what they used to keep people in prison".
To be read by a "QUALIFIED BROTHER".
A qualified brother is an elder who can put over lies in a very believing way!
I'm on this one!

In England, 19th-century legislators tried to reduce the suffering of women by determining legally how large the stick could be. They devised what was known as the rule of thumb law, which allowed a man to beat his wife with a stick “no larger around than his thumb.”

elder, daniel anglesey pleaded guilty at caernarfon crown court and was sent to prison for two years and eight months.
How can this possibly happen?
I was told that, "Elders are spiritually appointed men appointed by Holy Spirit and blessed by Jehovah".
Perhaps the Elders in Gloucestershire have got it wrong?
march study edition says we should show honer to people in general that includes df ones great now i can smile and show honer to them by speaking to them and not shunning them..
Is this the paragraph you are referring to:-
5. Why should we show a measure of honor and respect to people in general?
5 Humans were created “in God’s image.” (Gen. 1:27) Thus, most of them exhibit some godly qualities, though to differing degrees. Humans are capable of showing one another love, kindness, and compassion. Having been created with a conscience, people normally have an inborn sense—albeit at times inaccurate or distorted—that alerts them to what is right or wrong, honest or dishonest, appropriate or inappropriate. (Rom. 2:14, 15) Most people are drawn to things that are clean and beautiful. Generally, they want to live with others in peace. Whether they realize it or not, they reflect to some extent Jehovah’s glory, and for this reason, they deserve a measure of honor and respect.—Ps. 8:5.
I don't think the Elders in my wife's congregation would consider this in any way applies to Disfellowshipped persons.
They certainly would agree that ALL Elders should be given maximum honour and respect at all times.
i have never understood this.
was it because of legal reasons?
i cant think of any other reason why it wouldn't be allowed, but i know the elders ask you repeatedly that you are not taping.
To make sure there is NO true record of what really goes on in a JC.
The Watchtower org fears any one finding out what actually happens in these kangaroo courts.
The elders at my JC and my appeal LIED their socks off! AND they are still lying now some years after the event. Some dozen elders and a CO all lied!
