I need to adapt to this forum. I am new here. There seems to be sincere people here. I am not used to that with my experience in other forums. lovelylil and Schizm, both of you had thought provoking responses.

Does the Rainbow Covenant Disprove the Flood?
by Severus inthe story goes that god provided the rainbow as a symbol of his promise to never again destroy the world by flood.. noah and his family saw the rainbow after they left the ark.
after the waters had receeded.
after it had stopped raining for months.... yet a rainbow is simply sunlight spread out into its spectrum of colors and diverted to the eye of the observer by water droplets.

Supernatural experiences
by catbert inmany ex-jw's experience a new found freedom to investigate and question all the things they once felt were true, and may ultimately come to the conclusion that the bible is just a book of stories and take science as their new "religion".
it happened to me...) but a question i have is this: are all supernatural experiences hallucinations?
science would say probably yes.

lovelylil, I sincerely wish you well. Your reply was touching. I am in my 40's now, but in my 20's I was a very depressed ex-JW. I have a feeling this forum is going to be a good place for me.

Kittyeatzdubs,
I was a JW many years ago. I was raised JW. I consider myself to be a man of science now. But I still wonder about people's supernatural experiences. Science does not explain supernatural experiences, other than claiming they are hallucinations. -

Lovelylil, I'll ask you. Have you ever wondered why an all powerful God would flood a planet with water with the intent to kill everything that walks and crawls, but leave the sharks in the ocean alive? Maybe I have been away from "The Truth" too long. I now tend to question everything, which I think is a good thing...

What was the puspose of the flood? Why kill all the land going animals and leave the sharks alive? If he just wanted to kill the people, why not just create a virus, or wave his figurative hand and make them all disappear? What was the purpose of the flood?

Re: Russell's connection to Masons and Secret Societies
by Enlightened1 inour history is not what we have been taught.
the golden dawn history.
we see that russell was involved with freemasonry and used freemasonry symbols on his earlier magazines.

http://www.cephasministry.com/jw_was_russell_a_mason.html
A quote from Russell:
"Although I have never been a Mason, I have heard that in Masonry they have something which very closely illustrates all of this".
and:
"Our Masonic friends have it down very fine. I do not know where they got it so well. I have often wondered where they found out so many of the secrets of our High and Accepted Order of Masonry. From the time you come in to be a member of the Royal Priesthood, a living stone, a member of the craft of Masonry, from the Lord's standpoint,.. if any man will be a living stone in the Temple, if any man will be a member of his High, Free and Accepted Masonry - let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."
Not sure of the credentials of www.cephasministry.com, but reading this article, I would say Russell felt above the Masons as far as "Enlightenment" was concerned.
