Baba,
As God is my witness, I was going to post a link to that Jill Bolte Taylor yesterday as support
for my position that we are machines. When the machine breaks, we experience the delusion of spiritual
experience.

Babayaga,
You said: "But my belief is that the physical form, while a wonderous gift I can taste and smell and feel with, is, in some ways, unnecessary."
Do you believe that your "spirit" is the real you, it is your consciousness, it will remember what is happening to you now when it moves on
after death?
My previous comment about squeezing your brain... believe it or not was not intended to have any innuendo.
I have accepted that all my thoughts, any intelligence I have, is all in my head. The proof for me is what happens
to peoples intelligence and thought processes when they experience physical damage to their brain. And the point I was
trying to make with the squeezing comment was that your reality can be modified with physical manipulation. -

Sirona,
Richard Feynman is a fascinating character. He was a very well respected physicist.
From his wiki page:
---
According to Genius, the James Gleick biography, Feynman experimented with LSD during his professorship at Caltech.[10] Somewhat embarrassed by his actions, Feynman sidestepped the issue when dictating his anecdotes; consequently, the "Altered States" chapter in Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! describes only marijuana and ketamine experiences at John Lilly's famed sensory deprivation tanks, as a way of studying consciousness. Feynman gave up alcohol when he began to show early signs of alcoholism, as he did not want to do anything that could damage his brain.
---
Richard felt his "center" shift off to the left side of his body. That is sort of an out of body experience.
I believe Richard would tell you that his experiences were all "inside of his head".
I believe you are looking to connect with something outside of yourself, or with some intelligence that is
not of this world? Or some hidden knowledge that is pre-programmed into your DNA?
If you separate an animal from its culture at birth, it will exhibit traits that are unique to its species
for the rest of its life, as if some programming was passed on to it through its DNA. People seem to be
pre-programmed to believe in Gods? Or some other "spiritual" entity?
Salvia is not illegal. -

BabaYaga, If I squeeze your brain in the right spot, you will have an out of body experience.

Never trust what you see and feel just before sleep.
Same goes for altered states.
Many mystics use drugs to allow them to "see".
JW's would have you believe that drugs open a door into your mind for demons.
On a side note, you ever have a dream so intense, you feel it must be for a "purpose"?
Its just a dream, Nebuchadnezzar. Monkeys and dogs have them too. -

Will the WTBTS ever become mainstream like the WWCG?
by donny inback during the 80's and 90's, i occasionally heard statements lumping the society in with the likes of the worldwide church of god who had very similar teachings and even believed in 1975 as being a year that god would act (1975 in prophecy!
by herbert w. armstrong).
clearly the roots of the wwcg were from the same as the societys and both groups were viewed as cults.

Jehovah's Witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition.
Only 37% of all those who say they were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses still
identify themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses.

I believe that there are sensitive individuals who are repulsed by a lion killing and eating a lamb.
I happen to be one of them. But unfortunately, I now believe the balance of predator vs prey is
as it has always been. There was never a time when animals did not eat each other. -

I also chose to pray only for the "big stuff".
Financial help mostly. I think people make a mistake when they think it is wrong to pray for financial
help. Really, in this world, money is what fixes many of your problems. You can be unhappy, and be well off
financially, but money problems are the root of most unhappiness in the world.
Bill Gates will help more people get well than mother Theresa ever did. And how? Money.
So I pray for money.
